ABS-CBN Posts an Erratum to Dec. 24 article

ABS-CBN has posted an erratum to the December 24 article confirming that the network is indeed doing a remake of Twilight.

On December 24, abs-cbnNEWS.com uploaded a story, "ABS-CBN bags rights for local 'Twilight' remake". The source of the story was a report by entertainment writer Edgar Cruz posted on yehey.com.

The duty editor who uploaded the story failed to check with ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corp. whether the story was correct and accurate.

If you will recall, the Christmas Eve article disappeared 24 hours or so after it was posted. To refresh your memory, we once again offer a screen capture of the deleted article here.

Yehey.com's original report by Edgar Cruz may be found here.

Two questions:
1. So to get the root cause of this problem, we must ask: why, suddenly, did the Duty Officer not feel the need to check the authenticity of this report, considering it's about THEIR OWN NETWORK, and it would've probably taken just one simple phone call to Corporate Communications? It's just too weird for the Duty Officer to suddenly forget to follow protocol just like that.
2. Why wasn't Edgar Cruz credited in the December 24th article as the source of the report?

Constant vigilance, Twilighters!

Thanks to Amala Thea and Rome for the link.

    What the heck.
    This is sick.
Why are you GUYS still making such a big fuss over the matter which they already cleared up? You shouldn't be being biased or against them, right? That's what media is all about. And TCP sure brings us news so you are considered part of the MEDIA.
Instead of putting more and more statements having doubts.
We should just be thankful that they've cleared it already!
That's what we really want, right?

    Give this a break.
I TOTALLY HATE THE IDEA TOO.
But for New Year's sake, all worries of 2008 should be LEFT already. Especially this!

What a way to start the New Year!

I'm sorry for being rude. Please forgive me.

    @Anonymous:
Never apologize for being rude when you are actually being rude. You're just embarrassing yourself. Have the guts to make a stand for what you think is right. Start doing it by at least sharing your name.

    Now, on to your points:
    1. Why are you GUYS still making such a big fuss over the matter which they already cleared up? - Because the posts don't add up. Even if they have denied the rumors already, how come a local paper published an article on the production even after ABS-CBN released their denial? I will not mention which local newspaper but it's definitely a reputable one.

    2. And TCP sure brings us news so you are considered part of the MEDIA. - I think it's common knowledge to members and site browsers alike that TCP is first and foremost a FANSITE and NOT a member of any CORPORATE MEDIA. With that in mind, fansites in general don't just present news and other features of interest. Often, short commentaries are included which caters to the fans of the books, specifically Pinoys, who are mostly incensed by the idea of a Pinoy Twilight remake as can be seen in the current poll.

    3. Give this a break. I TOTALLY HATE THE IDEA TOO. But for New Year's sake, all worries of 2008 should be LEFT already. Especially this! - If you really, truly hate the idea and if you've carefully read all 3 news posts of ABS-CBN, you'll realize that there's something amiss here. All the more reason to be on constant guard about this. If you're tired about reading posts like this, then don't bother at all. You're stressing yourself by doing so. Personally, I like being informed about developments like this but I choose not to be affected by it. You, meanwhile, are obviously affected.

    Hi,
I just wanted to let you know that we've posted an interview with Sam Bradley (who cowrote "Never Think" with Robert Pattinson) at Portrait Magazine. The link is here: http://www.portraitmagazine.net/interviews/sambradley.html

In the interview, he talks a bit about his experience cowriting the song with Rob, as well as his reaction to the film. If you do chose to link to it, please let us know and we'll be sure to post a link back to your blog.

How will YOU react when you know you're being lied to? Taken for stupid? Me, I will NOT sit down and smile and take it, and that's that.

    But that's just ME.

Will Twilight be back in the Philippine Cinemas after the MMFF season?

yeah. i agree. the things they say don't add up.. first posting the then-news-now-hoax confirmation post then removing it, and then waiting a couple of days before denying it and then saying that days before they've posted something about an internet report (probably referring to the'confirmation post') and then now they say it was just an error? I mean, i am glad that they've cleared that they won't be doing takipsilim but geez... i guess they're trying not to be sued by saying that that the 'confirmation post' was just an error. just freaking face the consequences of what you've done.

I'm just glad I can soon take down my anti-Takipsilim group on a certain social networking site. It's kind of exhausting to keep track of.

I consider TCP a much more reliable source of news than ABS-CBN - major loss of credibility, totally irresponsible.

It just annoys me that we were lied to, that we were had by what was supposed to be this credible news website.

"In the service of the Filipino, worldwide" - they should start thinking of a new motto, something we could actually believe.

again i agree.why wasn't te exact source credited and yet blamed it to the perez hilton site.sheeez...

uhm,it also made me think, what f they really had planned to do an adaptation and edgar cruz was excited about it EXPECTING the twilight fans would be thrilled yet instead they received a lot of negative feedbacks for the said plan, that's why they just posted that it was an error.
