New Moon at San Diego Comic Con 2009

Ah, Comic Con. When EQ levels in resisting spoilers go down the drain. (And there are spoilers littered here and there.)

Before anything else, let me just share an in-depth, 21Qs interview with Chris Weitz by Hollywood.com.

Okay, as promised, here's our site compilation of coverages for SDCC's New Moon feature.

MTV.com:
Twilight, Johnny Depp and Alice in Wonderland at Comic Con
New Moon BK Crowns and Riding with Green Hornet at San Diego Comic Con
New Moon Stars Share their Secret Dislikes
New Moon Stars Still Overwhelmed by Comic Con
New Moon Stars still find Comic Con Terrifying

MTV's New Moon at SDCC Photo Gallery
MTV's Video Coverage of New Moon at SDCC begins with RPattz at the press con explaining his role as Edward. Links to the other videos are on a box on the right, or just wait until it automatically switches to the next one. :)

EW.com:

EW's video interview with Taylor, Ashley, Kristen, Robert and Chris Weitz. Taylor says he got to do most of his own stunts, particularly the ones with the dirt bike. We see the three gang up on Rob. Separately, Chris says he relates to Bella. (And is that an RPattz pillow next to him?)

Rob, Kristen and Taylor screen New Moon footage for the fans. A quote from this article comes from director Chris Weitz, who says:
"The last film I made [The Golden Compass] was recut by the studio, and it was quite a terrible experience," says Weitz. "This has been completely different. It's been a tremendously rejuvenating experience for me. I can remember how much fun it is to make a film."
...which I think is great, and probably means that he had more liberty with the creative process.

HitFix.com:
Again, their liveblog of the presscon.
Also, Chris Weitz confirms Thom Yorke and Bon Iver for the New Moon soundtrack and "is still hoping for Kings of Leon". We are, too.

LATimes:
Twilight stars face the press, with restrictions. Among those restrictions, apparently journalists were pointedly told not to ask questions about the rumors surrounding RPattz and KStew. [minamic: Thank you.]

"Twilight at Comic Con: Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Chris Weitz and more introduce New Moon" - Hero Complex's article. They describe the two scenes screened for the fans along with a transcription of the panel that included Rob, Kristen, Taylor Lautner, Ashley Greene and Director Chris Weitz. A highlight:
"Rob, your expressions in the first movie really lend themselves to comedy. Do you have plans to move in that direction?"
Robert Pattinson:I don’t know if I’m particularly funny, I don’t know. One of my legs is shorter than the other one so it makes everything look really awkward. So I can look like an idiot, but I don’t know if I can be witty.
I guess we're not the only ones who thought Rob's facial expressions were iffy. But it would be cool to see him in a rom-com, don't you think? Another highlight:
"What are you most excited for in the next films?"
AG: Excited about this whole intense fight scene we're supposed to have.
TL: I’m excited for the height of the love triangle. The sleeping bag scene!
KS: I can’t wait to get pregnant.
RP: Being involved in the cesarean, I can’t wait.
Setting aside KS and RP obviously poking fun at the tabloids, Taylor's looking forward to what has to be the climax and most favorite chapter of Eclipse: Fire and Ice. Very cool. Er... no pun intended.

EOnline.com:
Kristen Stewart: I can't wait to get pregnant! And no, peeps. That is not to be construed as more tabloid fodder.
Ben Lyons interviews Taylor, Kristen and Ashley. Kristen declares she's Team Jacob.

ETOnline.com:
Twilight stars dish about New Moon and fame
Taylor says: I'm asked to growl a lot.
Twilight stars thrill fans at special screening.

AccessHollywood:
AH has two videos of the panel with just Rob, Kristen and Taylor: Part 1 and Part 2

Zap2It Blog
:
It must've been an alien sight, but, they're still surprised at Twilighters setting up tents for the New Moon panel. And impromptu chats with some of the fans camped out.
Zap2It's view of the mini-presscon with the love trio and their liveblog of the panel.

Twilight Lexicon:
New Moon Press Conference Report
New Moon Press Conference Videos
New Moon Panel Report. Videos of the panel will be up soon.

RadarOnline:
Rob Pattinson sets off Wild Fan Frenzy at Comic Con. With a video of the small Q&A what was almost the entire cast gave before a Twilight screening. You can barely hear anything over the screaming for Rob, AND Taylor, actually, when they walked in, but there were definitely some cute moments.

For a complete video coverage (albeit with screaming fangirls in the background) check out HallH on youtube.

And short coverages and image galleries from various sites:

P.S. We're not sure how you feel about spoilers so if you want to see the two scenes they screened, clickie HERE and HERE! Hopefully they won't be taken down yet! :D

Thanks to Rome for sharing her links and info! :) And to all the international Twilighters and sites who share their coverages with those of us who can't experience it, we thank you. :)

News Round-Up: July 24, 2009

Yes, we know you've been to the movie site, but hopefully you've been to it after it was launched as the official New Moon movie site, complete with new stills from the movie, desktop wallpapers, and short bios all integrated into an interactive rotating flash page. To prove that it's really not all about the Cullens anymore, you can choose to explore characters from both the vamp house and the La Push Reservation, as the Cullen crest now shares equal exposure with the wolves' tribal tattoo. Edward or Jacob? Vampire or werewolf? Do you stick with the cold ones or run with the shapeshifters? Hm, it's almost like being in Bella's shoes, as cheesy as that sounds.

Oh, and before I forget, the site can be accessed through the old twilightthemovie.com url as well. :)

Today is also New Moon panel day for the San Diego Comic Con. Very curious as to whether the chaos from last year will be repeated. Anyway, sadly, due to our proximity from the event venue, we can only point you out to sites:

Hitfix has a liveblog rundown on the press conference with Rob, KStew and Taylor, which, from their timeline, lasted for less than an hour. I'd like to note this bit:

10:10 a.m. Taylor and Kristen both have fond memories of their "breakup" scene, which was shot in 35 degrees with artificial rain. "That was bad and I wasn't really wearing much," Taylor says.

10:12 a.m. "I think my breakup scene was my favorite scene," Pattinson says of the five-page dialogue sequence that's distanced from the other supernatural aspects in the story. "Hopefully it will come off as having quite a few more levels than the relationship in 'Twilight.'"

Found it funny for some reason, that they favor their breakup scenes. Now I'm looking forward to those, since they seem to like them so much. Will they deliver? (Rob, I hope you fixed those facial expressions.)

ET Online has a livestreaming video of the panel (which is experiencing technical difficulties as I'm writing this... huh...) and promise video clips to be available on their site afterwards. We'll be linking their urls here, too, once they're up.

Of course, MTV has its own coverage: Here's their rundown of what to expect, and a small linked feature on how Twilighters camped out in anticipation of the New Moon panel, complete with Edward Cullen blanket.

And since we again have come to the subject of merchandise, Comic Con uncovered some gems in the fangirl's next quest for memorabilia: new action figures of Jacob, Edward, Bella and Alice and a smattering of other stuff emblazoned with, not just the Cullen crest or the wolf tattoo, but the emblem of the Volturi. You can see them on the newmoonmovie.org site here and here. Or get an envious glance at some of the other products from this year's SDCC on Superherohype here.

Thanks to Rome for the info on the New Moon site.

With the release of the first of his own vampire series, "The Strain", co-written with Chuck Hogan, Hellboy and The Hobbit director Guillermo del Toro was asked about Twilight. Although it's not his thing, del Toro admits that the series is "perfectly legitimate". Click here to view the full interview via MTV Rough Cut.

Hitfix asks: Who is Comic-Con's Most Wanted? Who will pack the halls to the brim: Megan Fox, Brad Pitt, or Rob Pattinson? Click here to read the full article.

After seeing Cam Gigandet win Best Fight with Rob at the 2009 MTV Movie Awards, we here at TCP are really starting to miss seeing Cam on the big screen. But it looks like he's going back to his blood-sucking ways in an upcoming movie adaptation of the comic book entitled Priest, which is "set in a world ravaged by centuries of war between man and vampires and follows a warrior priest who turns against the church to track down a murderous band of vampires who have kidnapped his niece." Cam will be playing one of the murderous band of vampires going up against Paul Bettany as the Priest. Will he be channeling a bit of James? We'll see. Click here to read the full article via MTV Splash Page.

The National Ledger is reporting that 007 himself, Pierce Brosnan, will be joining Rob Pattinson in Summit's Remember Me. Click here to read the full story. Thanks to MeBella Granger for the link.

The Wall Street Journal has a great essay on why many of the recent young adult fiction are exploring darker themes. The essay mentions Suzanne Collins' The Hunger Games, which Stephenie Meyer recently recommended, as well as Gayle Forman's If I Stay, which was optioned for adaptation by Catherine Hardwicke. Click here to read the essay. Thanks to Ronald for the link.

Speaking of Catherine Hardwicke, the Twilight director has several projects in development, and she is looking to ask some of the Twilight cast to be in them. Click here to read the full story.

Peter Facinelli's new TV series, Nurse Jackie, already aired its pilot episode on Showtime. You can watch the entire Pilot on YouTube here. Nurse Jackie stars Emmy winner Edie Falco, while Peter plays a not-at-all-like-Carlisle physician, Dr. Fitch Cooper.

News Round-Up: 21 May 2009

Summit Entertainment has announced that they will hold a panel at the 2009 San Diego International Comic Convention for The Twilight Saga: New Moon on the July 23 (Thursday) slot. As in last year's Twilight panel, Summit is bringing in some of the stars of the film, and will be showing exclusive footage. If you are planning on attending the event, one-day passes for Thursday are available for purchase (but it looks like there are only a few left!) at the Comic-Con website. If there's a TCP reader out there who is headed to Comic-Con, please let us know! We'd love to have a correspondent there.

While Robert Pattinson is in the 2009 Cannes International Film Festival promoting The Twilight Saga: New Moon and Remember Me for Summit Entertainment, he revealed to The Hollywood Reporter that he is committed to doing the Breaking Dawn film, confirming that it is at least on Summit's development list. However, he also said there is no start date for it yet. Everglow has a great collection of photos of Rob in Cannes here.

Adding to the list of Rob's already long list of upcoming movies is the adaptation of Guy de Maupassant's Bel Ami, which is scheduled to start principal photography next year. This is the latest in a string of new projects for our very much in-demand favorite vampire, which already includes The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, Remember Me, and Unbound Captives.

Also, it's confirmed! Alice gets to drive the infamous yellow Porsche in New Moon! Twilighters Italia have pics and video from the production in Montepulciano here.
