Summit Entertainment and Creation Entertainment to Produce the Official TWILIGHT Fan Conventions

Los Angeles, CA August 17, 2009 – Summit Entertainment and Creation Entertainment today announced a partnership to produce a series of Official TWILIGHT Fan Conventions over the next three years.

The unprecedented success of both the Twilight novels by Stephenie Meyer and the feature film adaptation of the first book has created a worldwide following of passionate fans who are eagerly awaiting the release of THE TWILIGHT SAGA: NEW MOON, the second movie in Summit’s TWILIGHT film franchise, which will be released theatrically in North America on November 20, 2009.

The Official TWILIGHT Fan Conventions will offer attendees the unique opportunity to involve themselves in all aspects of THE TWILIGHT SAGA. The weekend gatherings will feature on-stage appearances by TWILIGHT celebrities, exclusive footage screenings, panel discussions, TWILIGHT themed parties, musical performances, costume and trivia competitions, auctions, autographing, merchandising, and photo opportunities. The major online TWILIGHT fan websites, including www.twilightlexicon.com and www.twilightMOMS.com, will be participating with special presentations at stops on the convention tour.

Erin Ferries, VP of Creation Entertainment, said, “It is a delight to be involved with the tremendous excitement that surrounds THE TWILIGHT SAGA. The fans are incredibly knowledgeable about the property and have used the story as a springboard for their own creativity. The Official TWILIGHT Fan Conventions will allow attendees the chance to show off their TWILIGHT inspired artwork, writing, costumes, filmmaking, and music with thousands of their fellow fans. While the conventions will offer fans the chance to cheer for their favorite actors they are equally about gathering with like-minded folks and forming friendships based on a common devotion. We can't wait to bring some of the magic of TWILIGHT live to cities around the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom!”

“The fans of THE TWILIGHT SAGA continue to be incredibly supportive of the film franchise and we wanted to find a way to allow them to immerse themselves in the films and the characters in a much more interactive setting,” said Nancy Kirkpatrick, President of Worldwide Marketing of Summit Entertainment. “The Official TWILIGHT Fan Conventions will offer incredible opportunities to get up close to the characters which they have grown to love.”

Official TWILIGHT Fan Conventions around the country with more then 20 stops have already been announced including New Jersey, Chicago, Miami, Seattle, Nashville, San Francisco, Atlanta, Los Angeles, Arlington, Charlotte, Minneapolis, Phoenix, Boston, Toronto and Portland.

About the TWILIGHT film series
The TWILIGHT film series stars Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson and tells the story of 17-year-old Bella Swan who moves to the small town of Forks, Washington to live with her father, and becomes drawn to Edward Cullen, a pale, mysterious classmate who seems determined to push her away. But neither can deny the attraction that pulls them together…even when Edward confides that he and his family are vampires.

The action-packed, modern day vampire love story and blockbuster success TWILIGHT was released in theatres on November 21, 2008. The second installment of the film franchise, THE TWILIGHT SAGA: NEW MOON directed by Chris Weitz and starring Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner, will be released November 20, 2009 with the third film, THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE directed by David Slade, being released on June 30, 2010.

News Round-Up: 21 May 2009

Summit Entertainment has announced that they will hold a panel at the 2009 San Diego International Comic Convention for The Twilight Saga: New Moon on the July 23 (Thursday) slot. As in last year's Twilight panel, Summit is bringing in some of the stars of the film, and will be showing exclusive footage. If you are planning on attending the event, one-day passes for Thursday are available for purchase (but it looks like there are only a few left!) at the Comic-Con website. If there's a TCP reader out there who is headed to Comic-Con, please let us know! We'd love to have a correspondent there.

While Robert Pattinson is in the 2009 Cannes International Film Festival promoting The Twilight Saga: New Moon and Remember Me for Summit Entertainment, he revealed to The Hollywood Reporter that he is committed to doing the Breaking Dawn film, confirming that it is at least on Summit's development list. However, he also said there is no start date for it yet. Everglow has a great collection of photos of Rob in Cannes here.

Adding to the list of Rob's already long list of upcoming movies is the adaptation of Guy de Maupassant's Bel Ami, which is scheduled to start principal photography next year. This is the latest in a string of new projects for our very much in-demand favorite vampire, which already includes The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, Remember Me, and Unbound Captives.

Also, it's confirmed! Alice gets to drive the infamous yellow Porsche in New Moon! Twilighters Italia have pics and video from the production in Montepulciano here.

Film.com has a great review of the Twilight DVD here. [Now if only we were all as lucky to hear the commentaries and see the full documentary. <_<   -CdL]

Why do girls fall all over Rob Pattinson? Kellan Lutz has the answers!

LaineyGossip is reporting that Taylor, Kristen and Rachelle are now shooting the cliff diving scene.

Stephenie Meyer is a candidate for the 2009 Time 100, which is Time Magazine's annual list of the Most Influential People in the World. As of this writing, Steph is at #87. Click here to vote for her and the other candidates. Thanks to Elizabeth for the tip.

Here's a story that will make you go "What the Hale?!" (although the folks at Gawker went WTF?!). Text messages started spreading across several states in the U.S. warning that gangs will shoot at teenagers who will line up at midnight to get their copies of the Twilight DVD. Say it with me: What the Hale?!?! And you thought text messaging hoaxes are in vogue only in the Philippines. :p Click here to read the story. Thank you, Ronald!

Amy of Creation Entertainment, organizers of the 2009 Twi-Tour San Francisco, sent us links to videos from Twi-Tour. Since most of us Pinoys couldn't be there to attend, let's head on over to YouTube to watch what happened. Here's a list of the videos:
- Peter Facinelli and Billy Burke - "Don't Whisper into Charlie's Ear!" | "Waxing Philosophical" | "Can I Have Your Gum?" | "Cologne?" | "This Better Be Good, Jenay"
- Kellan Lutz - "Loves K-Names" | "Kellan Runs Like Edward Cullen" | "Why Did Rob Flip You Off?" | "Kellan Will/Has Changed Lives" |
- Jackson Rathbone & Ashley Greene - "Porsche's and Papercuts" | Crowd & Jackson sing Happy Birthday to Ashley Greene | Jackson does the Happy Dance! | "3 Wishes" | Ashley clears up the whole "Taylor rumor"

Thank you to Amy for sending us the links!

News Round-Up: December 18

Stephenie Meyer is included in Time Magazine's People Who Mattered in 2008. Click here to read the citation. Congratulations, Steph!

Speaking of Steph, StephenieMeyer.com was recently updated with information about MySpace impersonators, Twilight Conventions, Twilight: The Score, and how Twilight the movie is doing in the box office. Click here to read the article.

Tyra Banks has posted her Top 5 Hollywood Teen Heartthrobs list, and guess who's at #1? Rob Pattinson, of course. He beat out Zac Efron, Chace Crawford, Joe Jonas, and Chris Brown [who's the only other guy on that list I actually like :p]. Wow, Rob, that was probably some bite you gave Tyra. Congrats! ;)

A couple of interviews with Peter Facinelli are now online: He spoke to CityNews.ca about being the "old guy" in the cast, and to OK! Magazine about Catherine Hardwicke's departure from the Twilight franchise.

There are also several articles featuring Rob Pattinson: Rob revealed to My Park Magazine that he had an accident in the set of Twilight involving Tyler's van and Kristen Stewart's double [Aw, Rob! Tsk.]. The same site also has an interview with Cam Gigandet, and apparently, The Man Who Never Disappoints almost became Emmett Cullen. The Improper asked Rob about his type of woman, and he came right out and said that he liked Tina Fey, and referred to her as "the sexiest woman". [Good choice, Rob! Tina Fey rocks!] E! Online heard a rumour that Rob will also be joining the next Pirates of the Caribbean film. It's actually too early to talk casting for Pirates, because the project is still in development (with director Gore Verbinsky currently stringing 3 other projects), and indications are that there isn't even a script yet.

Lastly, The TV Squad has an article comparing Twilight to Roswell. [Clearly illustrating that anything and everything can be compared to Twilight these days. What's next? And while Roswell is a great franchise, it's unfair to judge the whole Twilight franchise by just the first movie. And this line: "Um, Edward likes the way Bella smells. That's about it." elicited a Victoria-esque hiss and growl from me, because, as people who've read all the books carefully would know, that's not entirely what Bella and Edward's romance is all about.]
