The Twilight Saga: Eclipse Wins at the 2011 MTV Movie Awards

It's just like Kristen said: "We have the greatest fans ever."

The 2011 MTV Movie Awards was held last Sunday (Monday, locally) and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse and its cast ran off with 5 of those cute popcorn buckets!

Best Movie: The Twilight Saga: Eclipse
Best Male Performance: Robert Pattinson
Best Female Performance: Kristen Stewart
Best Fight: Robert Pattinson, Bryce Dallas Howard, Xavier Samuel
Best Kiss: Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart

RPattz was most hilarious throughout the show -- throwing nervous quips left and right and KISSING TAYLOR LAUTNER (yes, people, you read that right) instead of Kristen upon winning Best Kiss -- such that he was inadvertently christened with an unofficial "Movie Awards MVP" title by the MTV Behind-the-Scenes liveblog. Later on, he also went up on stage to help Patrick Dempsey and Chelsea Handler present his recent co-star, Reese Witherspoon, with the Generation Award.

Congratulations to everyone for all their hard work and their intense clicking! I know some people just slaved over their mouses the week before the big day!

After the awards ceremony, actors Peter Facinelli, Jackson Rathbone, Ashley Greene, Kellan Lutz and Gil Birmingham, and Eclipse director David Slade tweeted their thanks to the fans.

If you want to catch up on what you missed at the movie awards, you can go to Rob Pattinson News UK for their very extensive post filled with photos and videos. (It's VERY image heavy, so, don't be surprised if your browser fails.)

Special News Round-Up: Breaking Dawn Casting! (Part 1)

To recap the recent weeks, and I have to start with this: some good folks auctioned out a set visit which ultimately went for a freaking 60-grand USD! (People, that's about 3 Million PHP, depending on the exchange rate... granted, it went to a great cause--Stand Up to Cancer--which I wholeheartedly support but still... HOLY CRAP.)

In the meantime, Rob's already in LA, Kristen is probably wrapping/has already wrapped up On the Road, and Peter tweeted about having wardrobe fittings. Can you feel it? It's almost time for the craziness that is Breaking Dawn.

November is fast approaching and, besides the deliberation of Carlisle's potential fashion, the most exciting and awaited updates we've had have been about casting. I'm certain people are curious as Breaking Dawn has a lot of potential character additions. Will the actor fit? Will Melissa be lambasted for not including this role in her scripts? Will the casting director receive a lot of hate mails? Indirectly quoting Heidi Klum, who will be in and who will be out?

Personally, I wanted to wait until we'd have more people to post but since the suits are taking their time with deciding, let's work with what we have.

Rami Malek as Benjamin. (Source: Access Hollywood.) This bit of news actually hit about two months ago. It's just funny that of all the characters, the role of Benjamin, who won't even be in the first part of BD, was the one to be cast first. I have to admit, Rami is a shoo-in. He was the Pharaoh in Night at the Museum. I guess it doesn't hurt that he also has Egyptian blood.

Maggie Grace as Irina. (Source: Deadline Hollywood.) And we have one-third of the succubi sisters! Maggie was Liam Neeson's daughter in Taken and wow, has she grown. Should be interesting who they'll choose for her sisters, Tanya and Kate, and how she'll handle the role... which, incidentally, won't be until the second parter. Again.

Mackenzie Foy as Renesmee. (Source: EW.com.) This is possibly the biggest casting news yet. (That is, until they cast Tanya Denali, a.k.a., the girl who will make Bella incredibly insecure.) EW seems to have had an air of uncertainty saying that "the 9-year old is inches away from signing on" to the role. But I must agree with everyone else's reactions: she looks perfect! Dare we say, like Kristen and Rob's love child, the idea of which must get the Robstens' hearts out there all aflutter .

I would like to address this part of the article though:
It’s not yet clear how the diminutive actress, who’s appeared in one episode each of television shows FlashForward and ‘Til Death, will portray the character who ages a full 17 years in only seven.
EW, chill. Renesmee doesn't look 17 in Breaking Dawn, not even at the end of the book! (Please, Nessie instantly turning 17 before their eyes and attracting Jacob within 2 hours of screentime is going to make Bella and Edward hyperventilate.) Actually, I think Mackenzie looks just right, if we go with BD's third book time frame--between Bella's vampire transformation and the Merchant of Venice-inspired "non-battle" scene. Considering this, I'm wondering now if our theory about where they're going to split the films proves true: part 1 will end with the imprinting and part 2 will begin with a semi-grown Nessie, then just work with flashbacks.

Of course, again, this would mean Mackenzie's entrance will be in the second film. Oh well. They'll be shooting both parts simultaneously anyway. Let's just see who comes out of the casting bin next.

News Round-Up: 24 March 2010

"The Twilight Saga: New Moon" Local DVD is now available in most record bars nationwide. We're not sure as to why the release was earlier than the March 25 release that Pioneer Films has informed us, but hey, at least it was earlier! And based on the comments of those who have purchased the DVD, it seems that all the reported features are in there and of good quality.

CNN talked with Chris Weitz and Nikki Reed on their favorite scenes in The Twilight Saga: New Moon and Reed's experiences with the Twilight fandom. Check out the interview below:

Also, Nikki Reed shared with People Magazine her difficulties while doing the stunts for The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.

Komo got to interview Melissa Rosenberg about her experience as a screenwriter for the three movies in the Twilight franchise and working on her adaptation for Breaking Dawn. She also elaborated in this article in The Seattle Times on working with the different Twilight directors and with Stephenie Meyer.

ABC News Radio posted this video of Peter Facinelli talking about what we can expect from The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, working with the younger cast, and which director he would like to work with in Breaking Dawn.

Cameron Bright, who plays the role of Alec, comments on their unique portrayal of the Volturi, and vampires in general, in the Twilight franchise (c/o MetroNews).

News Round-Up: September 20, 2009

Personally, I love reading a Chris Weitz interview because (to me) he places much thought in his answers and you gain a lot of insight on the process of being a director. In his latest interview with Boxoffice.com, he shares more on New Moon, his frustrations with Golden Compass, and how he wouldn't be here if it weren't for vampires. Also, he explains the amount of shirtless-ness in the movie:
It's there in the script, and that's one for the ladies, really. Women have been objectified plenty in Hollywood films. And there's still sort of a chasteness to the objectification in Twilight and New Moon. One approaches it hopefully with a bit of tact—not just an exercise in beefcake peddling. You hope when you're shooting any kind of above-the-waist nudity that it suits the demand of the moment, it isn't just in there for the hell of it. That being said, I think we did come to Comic-Con with a lot of muscles and it was really fun to see the reaction to it. I've tried to make films that take into account the female members of the audience. Even American Pie, which comes from a genre that is notoriously misogynist.
Don't you just love him now? Read more here.

From director CW, to screenwriter MR... that would be Melissa Rosenberg, who chastises in an interview with Marc Malkin over on E!:
"They were beautifully cast for those roles and their chemistry is amazing. I think people often confuse chemistry onscreen with chemistry offscreen. I think people should just enjoy what's onscreen and leave their privates lives wherever they are... I don't actually know what they are."
This is regarding Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart. But let's not go there. Read the article for the tidbits she gives on New Moon, Riley's character beef-up in Eclipse and the undecided fate of a Breaking Dawn movie!

Anna Kendrick also talks New Moon over on MTV.com. They played around with their human characters, apparently, but as long as the vamps aren't touched that's alright, right? (That's what she hopes.)

Barnes and Noble already has the 2010 New Moon calendar up for sale. Doubt it'll make the rounds locally, so if you have any relatives or close personal friends in the U.S., maybe you can ask it for a Christmas gift. :P

Something interesting from the Twilight Examiner: New Moon premiere (Nov. 16) will occur on a new moon!

Over on the Eclipse end, a fan has some shots of the Twilight vehicles (that are almost as popular as the actors that drive them) parked near "Jacob's house". See them here. [Oh hello Edward's DARK-GREY/SILVER-THAT-ALMOST-LOOKS-BLACK Volvo SUV! - minamic]

If you want to be updated on what's shooting in Eclipse, why not get the info straight from the involved? One reason to love director David Slade, you don't need to stalk the set to know what's happening, and it's still spoiler-free!
Yesterday Taylor had to carry Kristen for several hours, he held it together - hope he can lift his arms today. Rain dumped on us all day. Worked w/entire Cullen family today. @peterfacinelli borrowed my camera, took my picture being strangled by Jackson, will upload later... Forrest again today, tomorrow we do wolf shots, saw some great wolf tests today, early stages developed from New Moon wolves.Yes we were shooting Bella and Jacob's kiss on the mountain, its really a grueling emotional thing to have to shoot over and over.
Others of the cast on Twitter: Peter Facinelli, Jodelle Ferland, Gil Birmingham, and Billy Burke. (Also, follow Sam Bradley!)

Let's end this round-up with a tweet from "Daddy Carlisle" (Peter Facinelli) that threw the internet into twilighter chaos this week:
Thanks a million. Here's Rob... Hi, it's Rob... My first and last tweet. My dad made me do it.
Rob or not, it's still sweet of Peter to think of us. :)

News Round-Up: 11 September 2009

News Round-Up: August 28, 2009

Deja vu? The Volturi have surfaced... again!

Summit went the viral route in promoting the elusive forefront members of the Volturi, so we now have full-body shots of them up on different sites:

All dark, glowering and mysterious. We also see a glimpse of the Volturi crest hanging off the necks of Jane, Aro, and Marcus. (Alec's and Caius' must be hidden inside their coats.) Hm, I know some of us were already spoiled from this "big reveal" *cough*leak*cough* but still, what do you think now that we've officially seen Chris Weitz's interpretation of vampire royalty? (I personally love Dakota Fanning's Jane. -minamic)

In other news, we finally have one sure song that's on the New Moon soundtrack! MTV will premiere Death Cab for Cutie's single, "Meet Me on the Equinox", on September 13, the same day as the VMAs. (Not sure if that means they'll be showing it on the VMAs.)

The Independent has an interview with Kristen Stewart.

And a bit of something old but new, a video interview posted on NewMoonMovie.org on why Stephenie thinks Breaking Dawn should be made into two movies.

Lastly, we know you love Peter Facinelli, a.k.a., Daddy Carlisle Cullen. So go vote for him as Mr. Twitter! Only 4 days left! :D

Check out the video below where he mentions this (thanks to Rachel of Access Hollywood).

Summit Entertainment in response has sent a statement over to Access Hollywood that BooBoo’s statement on the number of films to be produced “are unfortunately uninformed and not accurate”. Soon afterward, BooBoo Stewart retracted his earlier statement.

News Round-Up: 6 August 2009

News from the Twilight Lexicon and Jodelle Ferland's Official fansite confirms the actress' involvement with third movie, Eclipse:
Its official! Jodelle has been cast in the Twilight Saga, The 3rd Film, Eclipse! she will playing The Newborn Vampire! We are really excited for her. How so many of you had petitioned for Jodelle to be cast as Jane, and now she gets to work alongside the cast and Dakota Fanning who was cast as Jane for New Moon.
And if you haven't checked out Jodelle Ferland's Twitter account yet, she excitedly confirmed it herself:

ET: What do you think of the recasting of Rachelle Lefevre?

Melissa Rosenberg: I love Rachelle, but Bryce Dallas Howard? It was a shame, but I think Rachelle will go on to do brilliant things. I just love her. I am sure Bryce will be great.
Link to the short interview here.

Twilight Tweeters
Was prowling the twitter world this morning. Sharing some cast tweets:

billy_burke: On the set of the indy movie i'm squeezing in before Eclipse. The guy I'm playing could kick a vampire's ass with his mind. (and a lunchbox)

RachelleLefevre: "Funny People" is a great film if you haven't seen it. Really funny and very touching. Highly recommended.

peterfacinelli: Just finished two hours of fight training for Eclipse. Now if anyone messes with me I can pretend to kick their ass really well.

jodellemicah: In all the excitement of finally being allowed to say I'm in Eclipse, I forgot to have breakfast. My stomach is reminding me. ;)

News Round-Up: 4 August 2009

CAST NEWS
Looks like things are starting to get ugly. Rachelle Lefevre is reportedly suing Summit Entertainment for breach of contract, after suddenly being replaced as Victoria in the third Twilight sequel.

On a related note, Rachelle thanked her fans on her twitter account for being supportive.
@RachelleLefevre I am so touched by all your responses and feel incredibly blessed to have fans like you. From the bottom of my heart: THANK YOU.
When asked by MTV on their thoughts about Rachelle's departure, both Peter Facinelli and Jackson Rathbone remained diplomatic. They did express how they will miss her for Eclipse. More on it here.

MTV.com spoke to Caius, or rather, Jamie Campbell-Bower and he dished about the Volturi having a "nude scene" in New Moon.
"We just all sit there, completely naked, for one scene," revealed "New Moon" actor Jamie Campbell Bower, talking about a racy moment that was added into the upcoming film. "Yeah, it's me, Michael Sheen and Christopher [Heyerdahl]; we just sit there, naked."
JCB was apparently only joking, New Moon director, Chris Weitz, was quick to reassure. In a message to the international fansites sent by Summit Entertainment after JCB's "revelation", Chris wrote:
Dear all,
I would like to put everyone’s mind at rest and let them know that the Volturi are not naked! Jamie (Campbell-Bower) has what you might call a dry sense of humor and almost managed to convince me — which is why he’ssuch a good actor. Anyway, be assured that, even though we do want the look of the Volturi to be a bit of a surprise, they are always — as in the book! — fully clothed.
best,
Chris Weitz
Jamie, himself, just recently, tweeted his apologies.
@Jamiebower: Apologies for misleading people into thinking that there would be a nude scene in New Moon. Never meant it to offend anyone. Sorry. X
[minamic: Don't worry, JCB! We were hardly offended. (Right?) In fact, I think people were even hoping for it! Especially this one guy we know... :P]

New Moon's recent addition, Tinsel Korey, who plays Emily, granted an interview to the Twilight Lexicon. Learn more about her here.

Here's one for CdL and all you Carlisle/Peter Facinelli fans: Examiner's Exclusive Interview where he talks about Eclipse and Carlisle getting to do some action for a change.

FANDOM NEWS
MTV has an interview with Twilight-inspired trio, The Bella Cullen Project, who will be performing at the Dallas TwiCon. Read about their new video here.

Stephenie Meyer has sparked the reincarnation of the vampire genre, such that vamps are the special feature (and cover) of Entertainment Weekly's recent issue. I heard they made Tom Cruise's Lestat the top bloodsucker. If you disagree, they still have a poll up on their site, where, naturally, our Edward is leading.

Wanna have that "vampire glow"? Fans will get to feel like a Cullen with Twilight Beauty, the official cosmetic line for Twilight. See the site here. To be launched August 17th, at present, the site only fronts a splash page with character and future product shots, and linked logos to what I assume will be their two brands: Luna and Volturi. Interesting how their gloss?... Or is that cheek+lip tint?... is named "Venom".

MOVIE and SITE NEWS
Images from the New Moon calendar have been posted online and can be viewed through ROBsessedpattinson.com. Unfortunately, no movie stills this time. Instead, each month features the same gorgeous headshots you can see on the movie's official site. A pensive, extremely and starkly golden-eyed Robert Pattinson as Edward Cullen is the September calendar's flavor of the month.

And since we've touched up on the site, if you haven't visited it lately, there have been some updates! Firstly, the links to the Official Store on Amazon as well as that to The World of Twilight are now up! The latter, particularly, can let you send specially-designed Twilight E-cards by Hallmark... for that special Edward or Bella in your life. Or... even... James! [minamic: The James e-card mockup on the flash intro cracks me up for some reason. *winks at Mabs*]

You can also visit the Twilight MySpace Community and download the New Moon widget on that site.

Of note on The World of Twilight is the button leading to Eclipse's future webpage, which states the date of the movie's release next year: 6-30-2010. Wow.

The site also has the New Moon movie's worldwide release date in different countries listed. Ours currently says November 20, 2009. However, as the promo materials posted locally presently says November 25, 2009, we're opting for a "wait-and-see" stand about the actual Philippine premiere date. Basically, we'll wait for word from the distributor.

News Round-Up: 11 July 2009

I'm posting this at the heels of the fourth article of Twilight Gay so be sure to scroll down and read that post (and make sure you're not eating, you might choke LOL).

Peter Facinelli granted an interview with Radar Online on his way to the Vampire Baseball game for Make-A-Wish Foundation. He talks about his baseball skills (and how he wants Rachelle Lefevre on his team) and what he thinks about filming for Eclipse.

We have seen a lot of dashing Kellan Lutz lately (and who's complaining? check out his photos for Social Life Magazine!) so here's an article from Ace Showbiz talking about how he stays fit. OK! Magazine also did an interview with him regarding the New Moon set.

Extra features 12 things you may not know about Kristen Stewart. Well, any KStew fan might already know most of the stuff but it's an interesting read nonetheless.

Michael Welch shares with MTV about Robert Pattinson's appearance in the New Moonfilm given that he only appears physically at the start and at the last chapters of the book. You can check it out here.

Lastly, though this news is relatively early, Perez is reporting that filming for Breaking Dawn will start right after filming wraps up for Eclipse, as mentioned by Ashley Greene in an interview.

News Round-Up: 23 June 2009

The teaser trailer for M. Night Sharmalarmalan... errrr, I mean M. Night Shyamalan's The Last Airbender, which stars Noah Ringer, Dev Patel, and of course, Jackson Rathbone, is now online. Watch it below, courtesy of MTV (no Jackson sighting, but it looks interesting):

Toys 'R Us in Canada has a new product in their catalogue: Barbie and Ken as Edward and Bella. Check it out here.

The Twilight Lexicon has an interview with Daniel Cudmore (Felix) here.

The New Worlds Alliance has officially welcomed us on their website!

News Round-Up: 13 June 2009

Metro has been featuring their one-on-one interviews with the New Moon cast, the latest of which is with Robert Pattinson . Check out the other Metro articles with Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner, and Chris Weitz.

Nylon has also posted excerpts from its interview with Ashley Greene. You can check out the entire interview in the next issue of Nylon Magazine.

Entertainment Weekly has a new poll on the most anticipated "follow-ups" for 2009. As expected, New Moon is in the list (and in the lead!) along with Transformers, Harry Potter, Angels and Demons, and Terminator.

And last (but not the least, this one's for you CdL!), Peter Facinelli tweeted:

My friend Rob Defranco bet me I couldn't get 500,000 followers by the end of next week. If we lose I have to give him the back of my actors chair from Twilight. I think if everyone had 10 of their followers follow me we can do it no problem.

So those who have not followed Peter yet on Twitter, do add him (although it wouldn't hurt for a friend to get his Twilight chair...depends on what he'll do with it LOL). If he wins the bet, his friend will walk down Holywood Blvd in a bikini, singing Single Ladies with a sign that says "Twitter Me" while Peter will videotape it. Deadline for the bet is Friday, June 19 at midnight LA time (he still has a long way to go by the looks of it). Also, follow us on Twitter!

News Round-Up: 9 June 2009

After seeing Cam Gigandet win Best Fight with Rob at the 2009 MTV Movie Awards, we here at TCP are really starting to miss seeing Cam on the big screen. But it looks like he's going back to his blood-sucking ways in an upcoming movie adaptation of the comic book entitled Priest, which is "set in a world ravaged by centuries of war between man and vampires and follows a warrior priest who turns against the church to track down a murderous band of vampires who have kidnapped his niece." Cam will be playing one of the murderous band of vampires going up against Paul Bettany as the Priest. Will he be channeling a bit of James? We'll see. E! Online caught up with Peter Facinelli at the premiere of his new show, Nurse Jackie, and they got him talking about New Moon in this video interview.

Meanwhile, Empire Online also spoke to Michael Sheen recently about playing Aro in New Moon. Of his character, Michael says: "It was nice to go in and not be playing the main part, just go in for a few days and play this really really extraordinary character. I remember I was thinking, 'Oh, there's a bit of a Child Catcher here [from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang]; bit of the Blue Meanie from The Yellow Submarine; bit of Olivier from Richard III. There was a bit of all kinds of stuff." Read the full article here.

Stephenie Meyer made it to this year's Forbes Celebrity 100 List, coming in at #26. Click here to see who else is on that list.

Lastly, Stephenie also updated her website:

A quick fyi: I am taking down my bloated myspace page. It was a lot of fun while it lasted, and I really miss the early days when I could hang out with people online. Many of you are hilarious and insightful, and I wish it was easier for me to talk to everyone the way I used to.

With the myspace no longer in existence, I can now clearly state that—other than this website—there is no other outlet where I communicate with people online. I do not have a facebook page, and I have never had one. I don't do twitter. So if you're communicating with someone online that you think is me, it's not.

Hope you all are having a great summer so far! If you're looking for some beach reading, you might try Rick Riordan's Percy Jackson and the Olympians series if you haven't already. My son finally finished book five yesterday so I could read it today. It was a fantastic end to a fantastic series. I tip my hat to you, Mr. Riordan!

My favorite New Moon cast member has been very forthcoming about his work in the film while being careful not to reveal anything crucial. Access Hollywood has yet another video of Peter Facinelli discussing little tidbits about the sequel to Twilight:

Thanks again to Rachel of Access Hollywood for the video.
