News Round-Up: 13 August 2010

Happy Friday the 13th everyone!

So this week was the 2010 Teen's Choice Awards, and we all knew that the Twilight Saga was nominated in a lot of categories. But, who expected Taylor Lautner to beat Robert Pattinson for two titles? Taylor walked home with the surfboards for Choice Male Hottie, which Rob won last year, and Choice Movie Actor: Fantasy. (He was up against his Twilight costar for both.) He also won Choice Red Carpet Fashion Icon: Male and the Invisalign-sponsored Choice Smile. Well, at least we know he completely deserves the last one--if there's one common comment about Taylor, it's about how white and pretty his teeth are.

Robert didn't go home empty-handed, of course. He took home the board for Choice Movie Actor: Drama for his role in Remember Me. In his acceptance speech, Rob mentioned that, "...it's great to win something outside of Twilight." We hope this is the beginning of good things for his future.

The night was capped off by another big Twilight win, but as the series won so many, they made the entire cast that was present go up on stage to accept it collectively. Among the awards we'd like to note: Rachelle Lefevre won for Best Villain for New Moon. (Rachelle tweeted her thanks to the fans after.) And Robsten won for Choice Movie: Chemistry and Choice Movie: Liplock. Kristen Stewart also won for Choice Movie Actress: Fantasy. Unfortunately, she wasn't in attendance for the ceremony due to her filming On the Road. I read that they said the show would have been arranged differently had KStew been there.

Let's not forget to mention that we won Most Fanatic Fans! I wonder if that means there were a lot of Twilight fans that voted for themselves or if other fans voted us because we're the craziest of the list? Lol.

Here's the list of Twilight Teen Choice wins c/o TVbythenumbers.com. For pictures and videos (mostly of Rob), check out RobPattzNews. Congratulations to everyone!

More Twilight on the net...

When CdL tweeted this and said our collector hearts would be pumping, she was right. Well, at least I know mine was. So, if you've ever thought that the Twilight books would look good in WHITE, you're in luck. TheBookseller.com has reported that paperback versions of the saga will be republished with white covers by Christmas. The bad news? They'll be limited edition and available only in the UK, Ireland, South Africa, Australia and India. Boooo.

Twilight Beauty cosmetics will soon have new products in the form of... nail polish. Called Nox, after the Roman goddess of night, the line of nail polish comes in 12 colors. As these are supposedly a tribute to the Cullens, each bottle is decorated on the front by the Cullen crest.
Locally, Twilight Beauty is available in American Rag stores in Festival Mall and Robinsons Place Manila. You may probably ask them if or when the nail polish will be available in their stores.

Finally, in the last round-up I asked how you would envision Bella's wedding dress? InStyle did something better and put up a gallery filled with details for Edward and Bella's wedding! They asked expert designers for their best interpretations of Bella's engagement ring (which actually looks prettier and more vintage than the oval one from the movie), bouquet, invitations, accessories, even venue! What's great is they took passages from the Breaking Dawn book about each item so you can see how they tried to make it match canon. Check out the feature and see if you agree with their take on Alice and Rosalie's bridesmaid dresses and Reem Acra's drawing of Bella's wedding gown according to how Bella herself described it.

Edit: Wouldn't you know it? After I posted the round-up, gracielou105 on Twitter reminded us that today is also Bella and Edward's wedding anniversary! Looks like the InStyle feature wasn't so random after all. :)

News Round-Up: October 23, 2009

Because my Blogger finally works, I'm going to write the round-up for today!

First off, one of our Twitter followers asked us to verify New Moon's local release date. So, for those of you who don't follow us on twitter: As of October 22, nothing has changed. The movie will still come out on November 20, according to Pioneer Films, in all cinemas. We aren't sure if we can divulge advanced screenings yet, but they're supposedly having them the day before, the 19th, and not on the 18th.

If you have a twitter account, follow us for more up-to-date news! :) Or if you don't have one, you can check out our Twitter feed on the blog's right side. We tend to post faster there. (Thank you Tweetdeck! LOL.)

On to the news!
--
The Volturi have descended on La Citta Eterna! Charlie Bewley, Cameron Bright, Jamie Campbell-Bower and screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg were at the Rome International Film Festival to represent New Moon. They showed a behind-the-scenes featurette and an extended version of the E/B breakup (which should be floating on the internet somewhere... Summit has been cracking down on the vids up on youtube but you know how persistent we Twilight fans are.)

For more info on the scenes, and photos, go here.

Something that's legally up and viewable (but still entirely dangerous for one's EQ): A full clip of the Volterra fight scene between Edward and Felix is on Yahoo! Movies UK. If your EQ is already shot, much like mine is, watch it to appreciate the special effects for vamp speed!

Also, if you can't access the video of the trailer's new version--the one with Jacob and Edward having a little altercation--on Access Hollywood, follow this link to Fandango where it's up on HD.

Want that New Moon look? InStyle has a behind-the-scenes feature on the hows, whys and where-to-buys of the key objects in the movie.

Here's a video interview of Charlie Bewley (especially for Jacke, who we love right now. LOL.)

A funny bit from the New Moon birthday scene: Can Jackson now sing, "I kissed RPattz and I liked it"? Rachelle Lefevre relates at the UK TwiCon that Jackson kissed Rob on the cheek while filming. Read the short fan retelling here.

We end the round-up with something for the Team Jacobs out there. In an interview with MTV, Jackson Rathbone says that Taylor is worth more than just his abs.
"Taylor Lautner really stands out in this film, and I think people are going to be really blown away by his performance," Rathbone said. "You have these great moments that Jacob just completely is winning over Bella. And it's just beautiful to see it. It's all in their eyes."

News Round-Up: 19 October 2009

There are rumours circulating around the online community that the local release date of New Moon was moved to a date earlier than the 20th. We've yet to get confirmation from our contacts in Pioneer Films, nor have we been informed by Ayala Cinemas (since it will affect our Block Screening schedule). We'll let you know ASAP when things change; consider it a rumour for now.

People Magazine will release a special New Moon edition, check out the preview they have posted. We'll let you know if this will be available locally [because that new shot of Eclipse is giving me good goosebumps - mabelletaka].

(c/o Twilight Lexicon)

NewMoonMovie.org shares a preview of the New Moon scene that ET Online will debut in the US on Monday (so that would be Tuesday or Wednesday 7PM and 11PM Philippine time, in ETC 2nd Avenue). This will feature a scene between Bella and the wolfpack (and a very scary Alex Meraz in particular).

The New Moon soundtrack is officially in stores locally, so here are reviews by Examiner and MTV that you can read after listening to the entire soundtrack. Also post your views on the soundtrack in the comments section!

Check out the 100 Sexiest Movie Stars list compiled by Empire Magazine. Twilight stars who made it into the list are Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner, Kellan Lutz, and Ashley Greene.

Ashley Greene shares her experience playing Alice in New Moon and Eclipse and how she has been since being part of the Twilight cast in this article c/o Vanity Fair.

Self Magazine has posted a behind-the-scenes glimpse of its photo shoot with Kellan Lutz, Ashley Greene, and Rachelle Lefevre.

Michael Sheen talks about his Twitter experiences with Fear.net.

Jack Huston talks about how he got cast and shares a bit about his character as Royce King II in Eclipse in this interview with Ace Showbiz. He also has another interview with IESB about his role and other projects.

E! Online reported that Kirsten Prout has been cast as Lucy in Eclipse. Summit Entertainment has not posted any official announcement yet regarding this info.

News Round-Up: 6 August 2009

News from the Twilight Lexicon and Jodelle Ferland's Official fansite confirms the actress' involvement with third movie, Eclipse:
Its official! Jodelle has been cast in the Twilight Saga, The 3rd Film, Eclipse! she will playing The Newborn Vampire! We are really excited for her. How so many of you had petitioned for Jodelle to be cast as Jane, and now she gets to work alongside the cast and Dakota Fanning who was cast as Jane for New Moon.
And if you haven't checked out Jodelle Ferland's Twitter account yet, she excitedly confirmed it herself:

Congratulations and welcome to the crazy world of Twilight, Jodelle! :)

In other news, Paramore's "Decode" has been nominated for BEST ROCK VIDEO in the MTV Video Music Awards. So, give them some love and vote! They're up against some very tough competition from Coldplay, Fall Out Boy, Green Day and Kings of Leon.

ETOnline has an interview with screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg, who's currently working on Eclipse, same as everyone. They couldn't resist asking her opinion about Rachelle's departure:
ET: What do you think of the recasting of Rachelle Lefevre?

Melissa Rosenberg: I love Rachelle, but Bryce Dallas Howard? It was a shame, but I think Rachelle will go on to do brilliant things. I just love her. I am sure Bryce will be great.
Link to the short interview here.

Twilight Tweeters
Was prowling the twitter world this morning. Sharing some cast tweets:

billy_burke: On the set of the indy movie i'm squeezing in before Eclipse. The guy I'm playing could kick a vampire's ass with his mind. (and a lunchbox)

RachelleLefevre: "Funny People" is a great film if you haven't seen it. Really funny and very touching. Highly recommended.

peterfacinelli: Just finished two hours of fight training for Eclipse. Now if anyone messes with me I can pretend to kick their ass really well.

jodellemicah: In all the excitement of finally being allowed to say I'm in Eclipse, I forgot to have breakfast. My stomach is reminding me. ;)

News Round-Up: 4 August 2009

CAST NEWS
Looks like things are starting to get ugly. Rachelle Lefevre is reportedly suing Summit Entertainment for breach of contract, after suddenly being replaced as Victoria in the third Twilight sequel.

On a related note, Rachelle thanked her fans on her twitter account for being supportive.
@RachelleLefevre I am so touched by all your responses and feel incredibly blessed to have fans like you. From the bottom of my heart: THANK YOU.
When asked by MTV on their thoughts about Rachelle's departure, both Peter Facinelli and Jackson Rathbone remained diplomatic. They did express how they will miss her for Eclipse. More on it here.

MTV.com spoke to Caius, or rather, Jamie Campbell-Bower and he dished about the Volturi having a "nude scene" in New Moon.
"We just all sit there, completely naked, for one scene," revealed "New Moon" actor Jamie Campbell Bower, talking about a racy moment that was added into the upcoming film. "Yeah, it's me, Michael Sheen and Christopher [Heyerdahl]; we just sit there, naked."
JCB was apparently only joking, New Moon director, Chris Weitz, was quick to reassure. In a message to the international fansites sent by Summit Entertainment after JCB's "revelation", Chris wrote:
Dear all,
I would like to put everyone’s mind at rest and let them know that the Volturi are not naked! Jamie (Campbell-Bower) has what you might call a dry sense of humor and almost managed to convince me — which is why he’ssuch a good actor. Anyway, be assured that, even though we do want the look of the Volturi to be a bit of a surprise, they are always — as in the book! — fully clothed.
best,
Chris Weitz
Jamie, himself, just recently, tweeted his apologies.
@Jamiebower: Apologies for misleading people into thinking that there would be a nude scene in New Moon. Never meant it to offend anyone. Sorry. X
[minamic: Don't worry, JCB! We were hardly offended. (Right?) In fact, I think people were even hoping for it! Especially this one guy we know... :P]

New Moon's recent addition, Tinsel Korey, who plays Emily, granted an interview to the Twilight Lexicon. Learn more about her here.

Here's one for CdL and all you Carlisle/Peter Facinelli fans: Examiner's Exclusive Interview where he talks about Eclipse and Carlisle getting to do some action for a change.

FANDOM NEWS
MTV has an interview with Twilight-inspired trio, The Bella Cullen Project, who will be performing at the Dallas TwiCon. Read about their new video here.

Stephenie Meyer has sparked the reincarnation of the vampire genre, such that vamps are the special feature (and cover) of Entertainment Weekly's recent issue. I heard they made Tom Cruise's Lestat the top bloodsucker. If you disagree, they still have a poll up on their site, where, naturally, our Edward is leading.

Wanna have that "vampire glow"? Fans will get to feel like a Cullen with Twilight Beauty, the official cosmetic line for Twilight. See the site here. To be launched August 17th, at present, the site only fronts a splash page with character and future product shots, and linked logos to what I assume will be their two brands: Luna and Volturi. Interesting how their gloss?... Or is that cheek+lip tint?... is named "Venom".

MOVIE and SITE NEWS
Images from the New Moon calendar have been posted online and can be viewed through ROBsessedpattinson.com. Unfortunately, no movie stills this time. Instead, each month features the same gorgeous headshots you can see on the movie's official site. A pensive, extremely and starkly golden-eyed Robert Pattinson as Edward Cullen is the September calendar's flavor of the month.

And since we've touched up on the site, if you haven't visited it lately, there have been some updates! Firstly, the links to the Official Store on Amazon as well as that to The World of Twilight are now up! The latter, particularly, can let you send specially-designed Twilight E-cards by Hallmark... for that special Edward or Bella in your life. Or... even... James! [minamic: The James e-card mockup on the flash intro cracks me up for some reason. *winks at Mabs*]

You can also visit the Twilight MySpace Community and download the New Moon widget on that site.

Of note on The World of Twilight is the button leading to Eclipse's future webpage, which states the date of the movie's release next year: 6-30-2010. Wow.

The site also has the New Moon movie's worldwide release date in different countries listed. Ours currently says November 20, 2009. However, as the promo materials posted locally presently says November 25, 2009, we're opting for a "wait-and-see" stand about the actual Philippine premiere date. Basically, we'll wait for word from the distributor.

Summit Counters Lefevre's Comments Over Recasting Issue

And the plot thickens...Summit Entertainment has issued a statement on Rachelle Lefevre's thoughts on the Eclipse recast move:

It was not until July 20th that Summit was first informed of Ms. Lefevre’s commitment to BARNEY’S VERSION, a commitment we have since been advised she accepted in early June. Summit had acted in good faith that she would be available to fulfill her obligations both in terms of rehearsals and shooting availability for THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE. We feel that her choice to withhold her scheduling conflict information from us can be viewed as a lack of cooperative spirit which affected the entire production.

Furthermore Ms. Lefevre took a role in the other film that places her in Europe during the required rehearsal time, and at least ten days of THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE’s principal photography. This period is essential for both rehearsal time with the cast, and for filming at key locations that are only available during the initial part of production.

For the entire article, click here c/o Twilight Lexicon.

Rachelle Lefevre ‘Stunned’ Over ‘Eclipse’ Recasting

This is very sad news.

Access Hollywood reports that apparently Rachelle Lefevre herself was surprised with the decision.

In the interview, the actress explains:
“I was fully committed to the ‘Twilight’ saga, and to the portrayal of Victoria,” Rachelle continued, explaining the turn of events that led to the casting change. “I turned down several other film opportunities and, in accordance with my contractual rights, accepted only roles that would involve very short shooting schedules. My commitment to ‘Barney’s Version’ is only ten days. Summit picked up my option for ‘Eclipse.’ Although the production schedule for ‘Eclipse’ is over three months long, Summit said they had a conflict during those ten days and would not accommodate me. Given the length of filming for ‘Eclipse,’ never did I fathom I would lose the role over a 10 day overlap. I was happy with my contract with Summit and was fully prepared to continue to honor it. Summit chose simply to recast the part.”
Full article can be found here, on the Access Hollywood website.

All I can say is, "Oh, Summit."

Rachelle Lefevre Not Reprising her Role as Victoria in Eclipse

From the commotion about the Volturi to one about Victoria, it seems.

THE TWILIGHT SAGA ADDS ACTRESS
BRYCE DALLAS HOWARD TO FILM FRANCHISE

Actress Rachelle Lefevre Will Be Replaced By Howard In The Role Of Victoria

Los Angeles – July 28, 2009 – Summit Entertainment announced today that Bryce Dallas Howard will take over the role of “Victoria” in the studio’s upcoming production of THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE. Actress, Rachelle Lefevre, who portrayed the character in TWILIGHT as well as the upcoming release of THE TWILIGHT SAGA: NEW MOON, will not continue in the role due to scheduling conflicts with another commitment the actor has made.

THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE will start filming in Vancouver this coming August.THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE, the third film in the studio’s TWILIGHT film franchise based on Stephenie Meyer’s blockbuster book series, will be directed by David Slade from a screenplay written by Melissa Rosenberg. The film will be released theatrically in North America on Wednesday, June 30, 2010.

“We are incredibly happy that Bryce has agreed to come into the franchise,” said Erik Feig, Summit’s President of Worldwide Production and Acquisitions. “Rachelle brought “Victoria” to great screen life and Bryce will bring a new dimension to the character. The franchise is lucky to have such a talented actress as Bryce coming in to fill the role.”

Howard most recently starred in TERMINATOR SALVATION as Kate Connor and has been seen in SPIDER-MAN 3, LADY IN THE WATER, and THE VILLAGE. She was nominated for a Golden Globe for her leading performance as an actress in the HBO film AS YOU LIKE IT.

In THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE, Bella once again finds herself surrounded by danger as Seattle is ravaged by a string of mysterious killings and a malicious vampire continues her quest for revenge. In the midst of it all, she is forced to choose between her love for Edward and her friendship with Jacob — knowing that her decision has the potential to ignite the ageless struggle between vampire and werewolf. With her graduation quickly approaching, Bella is confronted with the most important decision of her life.
Source: Twilight Lexicon

[minamic: I guess I can say this for my fellow admins, but we love Rachelle as Victoria. In essence, her screentime, collectively, in the first three movies of the franchise, is small. Despite that, she was one of the only actors that we found really had impact in Twilight. We love her interviews and like that she's very intelligent (kind of rare in Hollywood, you know?) And she embraced the fandom, no matter how crazy we were!

Not sure if Bryce is going to be able to step into her shoes, but at least she's got the red-hair going on for her already. :P]

News Round-Up: 29 July 2009

After the furor about the Volturi, let's take a look at some of the newsbits in other areas of the Twi-verse, some of them Comic Con-related:

Rotten Tomatoes has a list of the Top Ten New Moon Facts Revealed at Comic Con. Number 2 on the list sounds particularly encouraging with regards to book-to-movie adaptation for the discerning Twilight fan.

Just Jared has a few pictures of Kristen Stewart as she returns to her role as Joan Jett on The Runaways, with a quote from a Comic Con interview where she describes New Moon Bella as "manic-depressive".

EW.com has a video interview with Rachelle Lefevre, Kellan Lutz and Nikki Reed. Definitely a fun video with pretty and smart people. :)

Collider.com has a set of New Moon-related interviews:
Time.com's Nerd World has a 12 Minute 49 second Interview with Director Chris Weitz, where they compare the pandemonium surrounding Rob with that of the Beatles, how Chris wasn't into the "blue gloss" color of the first movie and how he thinks he's "pretty fem" . Weitz also had this to say about where they are in post-prod:
I guess I should ask you about the actual movie. How done is it?

It's pretty done. It has to be done. It has to come out on November 20. Which means we sort of have to hand it over October 30. Which means the picture has to lock August 30. And so in a few weeks it'll be locked, the visual effects are in good shape, all the R&D on the more complicated, more ephemeral effects is being completed.
... and a couple more insightful comments on how they handled book-to-movie adaptation. (I keep pointing that out since people stress over that a lot.)

Post-Comic Con footage over at MTV.com:

New Moon stars preview Jacob and Bella's chemistry at Comic Con. In short, Kristen Stewart showing how very much more comfortable she is with Taylor than with Rob.
Twilight rules Comic Con again with New Moon footage, stars. MTV's post-event article centered on New Moon.
New Moon actor, Jamie Campbell Bower, gets crazy with Caius. Caius and crazy don't really go together, but JCB seems like he had fun with it. Was hoping someone would ask how he reacted to the fan consensus about him being too young to play a 3000-year old vampire.

Lastly, Twilight Source and Massively both report that, yes, it was inevitable. There are plans to make a TWILIGHT MMORPG*. In fact the game currently has its own website.

More about the game (from Artuji.com):
In an interview with the Examiner, Gardner described the Twilight video game as:

an open non-linear world set around Forks. I like the idea of letting players explore the world, and discover new amazing things that are not even covered in the book or the movie.

One really extremely crucial feature in the game engine that was licensed for the game is unlimited world streaming, and this feature allows for the game to go in an open, non-linear direction.

The game will be closely based to both Twilight and Midnight Sun allowing the player to play, and experience the story from either Bella’s or Edward’s perspective.

I’m thinking of including New Moon into the project as well. I really think it’s important to allow players to experience being human, vampire, or phasing into a werewolf.
Uh huh.

As both a Twilighter and a casual gamer familiar with both topics, I... have basically NO IDEA how to react to this yet. I can understand Twilight being a video game, but an MMO? (However, when I showed the article to my husband who happens to be in the gaming biz, he commented that it would be interesting and suggested players starting out as humans, then deciding if they were going to be part of the Vampire race or the Werewolf race. All after laughing his head off, of course.)

I'd support it, on a conditional basis. How about you guys? Would you play? And would you be vampire or werewolf?

Comic Con New Moon Cast Portraits at EW.com

Comic Con cast portraits are probably tradition now at EW.com, and they've got three of the main New Moon stars at the moment. One a half-body shot of Ashley, Rob, Kristen and Taylor, another a full-body group shot of the four of them. Notice how Kristen and Rob are both comfortably sporting the grunge look, well, with KStew being more Joan Jett than Bella at the moment. (For people who have been asking, she's still not finished filming The Runaways, thus her style.) Check them out here!

And the reason why I made this impromptu blog post...

Rachelle Lefevre. Hugging a Rob-on-the-cover-of-Entertainment-Weekly pillow. (Haha! So that was a Rob pillow beside Chris Weitz!) Aw. So cute! :)

News Round-Up: 18 June 2009

People Magazine's Hottest Bachelors of 2009 issue hits newsstands this week in the U.S., and guess which of the hot guys in the Twilight cast made it?

First, there's Rob Pattinson, of course, no surprises there. I don't think any of you will believe such a list could exist without Rob, right? He's at the #10 spot on the list.

But the real surprise? Kellan Lutz is higher up on the list at #5, alongside his 90210 castmate, Ryan Eggold!

Who else made the list?
1. Gossip Girl's Chace Crawford
2. Star Trek's Chris Pine [This was totally not predictable. You probably wouldn't see him on this list if Star Trek hadn't come out. But no, I am NOT complaining. Oh, no no no. -CdL]
3. Shia LaBeouf [This one's for you, Daene! -CdL]
4. Adam Lambert [Uh, okay. -CdL]
6. Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson [For reals?! -CdL]
7. Brody Jenner
8. Common
9. Taylor Kitsch [This is for you, Rome! LOL. -CdL]

Click here to review the list and view the photos.

- Kristen Stewart's Adventureland co-star, Ryan Reynolds, says he loves Twilight. While he may be married to the gorgeous Scarlett Johansson, he says he might just think of turning gay... for Rob! "Oh my God are you kidding me? Robert Pattinson in a word: dreamy." When asked if he would like to work with Rob in the future, he adds, "Sure! Look- I'm not gay, but I'm thinking about it." LOL. - Although Catherine Hardwicke commented about Twilight being turned into an anime in the DVD Audio Commentaries, she insists in this interview that nothing is planned.

- Rachelle, Edi, Kellan, and Ashley talk paparazzi.

- Ashley Greene talks about the success of the film during a Twilight DVD release party.

E! Online predicts the Rob and Kristen romance rumours are about to start again now that New Moon has started filming. Some Twilight cast members weigh in on the issue. Thanks to Mary Grace for the link.

The Hollywood Reporter says that Summit Entertainment is looking to cast Rob in a new film they are producing entitled Memoirs. The film "tells of two lovers whose newfound relationship is threatened as they struggle to deal with family tragedies."

This one made me teary-eyed. The U.S. Army and Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES) hosted an event with Peter Facinelli at the Ft. Lewis Post Exchange to celebrate the release of the Twilight DVD with U.S. soldiers and their families. To accommodate the thousands of fans who turned up to see him, he signed autographs, talked to people, shook every soldier's hand in the line, and took photos for 16.5 hours straight. @_@ The event was supposed to last only 2 hours, but Peter insisted on accommodating everyone to show his appreciation to the soldiers. Click here to read the full report. [See, this is why I love Peter. He's such an all-around decent, cool guy! -CdL]

The Calgary Herald has a feature on Rachelle Lefevre.

NewMoonMovie.org reports that filming is now underway at the location for Jacob's house. In other filming news, the Eagle Pictures (Italian distributor) website is dispelling the rumours that the film will shoot on location at Montepulciano on May 25-30.

The Twilight Lexicon learned that Michael Welch (Mike Newton) will be appearing in an upcoming episode of C.S.I.

Here's a story that will make you go "What the Hale?!" (although the folks at Gawker went WTF?!). Text messages started spreading across several states in the U.S. warning that gangs will shoot at teenagers who will line up at midnight to get their copies of the Twilight DVD. Say it with me: What the Hale?!?! And you thought text messaging hoaxes are in vogue only in the Philippines. :p Click here to read the story. Thank you, Ronald!

I'm really not a Rob Pattinson fangirl. Among the TCP Admins, that title would have to go to Minami. However, I must say, Rob looked absolutely dazzling tonight at the 81st Academy Awards. I've never seen him look this good, not even in the Twilight premiere. Rob presented the Romance Montage feature along with Mamma Mia! star, Amanda Seyfried. You can download a video of his appearance via Everglow, here.

Access Hollywood spoke to Rachelle Lefevre at the 2009 Independent Spirit Awards, and she said that she has already started wire work stunt training for New Moon. Thanks to Rachel of Access Hollywood/NBC for the tip.

More websites have picked up the announcement of the release date for Eclipse: Access Hollywood has a brief report and MTV's Larry Carroll voices out the concern of most Twilight fans. Larry further adds that Eclipse's June 2010 release will see it going up against Toy Story 3, Prince of Persia, and the other Jackson Rathbone starrer, The Last Airbender.

I personally am a believer in a good release date. Look at what happened to one of my favorite movies last year, The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian. Disney decided to move it from December 2007 (where it didn't really have any competition) to Summer 2008, where it was sandwiched between mega blockbusters Iron Man and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Families were forced to choose which movies to watch, so less people turned up to see Narnia. We know that Twilighters will troop to theatres in full force to watch Eclipse anyway, but can it dominate the market as much as Twilight did? More importantly, will Summit be able to make a good movie in so short a time, and ensure that even the average moviegoer will pick Eclipse over the other choices in the multiplexes?

So, guys, what do you think? What are your thoughts about Eclipse's release date? Should we be concerned not only about the short production schedule, but also the release date?
