Summit Entertainment has now posted the official press release for Eclipse on their website:

SUMMIT ENTERTAINMENT'S TWILIGHT SAGA'S ECLIPSE TO BE RELEASED JUNE 30, 2010

Los Angeles, CA, February 22, 2009 — Summit Entertainment announced today that ECLIPSE, the third film in the TWILIGHT saga, will be released theatrically in North America on Wednesday, June 30, 2010. Melissa Rosenberg, who wrote the scripts for both TWILIGHT and NEW MOON, is currently writing the script for ECLIPSE and continues to consult with TWILIGHT book series author Stephenie Meyer.

In ECLIPSE, Bella once again finds herself surrounded by danger as Seattle is ravaged by a string of mysterious killings and a malicious vampire continues her quest for revenge. In the midst of it all, she is forced to choose between her love for Edward and her friendship with Jacob - knowing that her decision has the potential to ignite the ageless struggle between vampire and werewolf. With her graduation quickly approaching, Bella is confronted with the most important decision of her life.

The action-packed, modern day vampire love story and blockbuster success of the first film in the series entitled TWILIGHT was released in theatres on November 21, 2008 grossing $69.6 million domestically during its first weekend. To date the film has grossed over $188 million domestically and over $362 million worldwide. The second installment of the film franchise, NEW MOON starring Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner, will be released November 20, 2009.

Vogue Magazine is going to feature Stephenie Meyer in their March 2009 issue (with Michelle Obama on the cover).

Our friends from Twilight Singapore were invited to attend the premiere of Twilight in Tokyo. The first of their reports can be found here, and boy, was that an eventful first day! Thanks to Maria, Aishah, and Nasyita. :) UPDATE: Their second report is now online! Rob is in Tokyo!

Want to know why Kristen Stewart wasn't in the Oscars but Rob was? This is what her dad had to say. [CdL is currently shaking her head and is bothered. Tsk tsk. I just LOVE Rob for being so gracious about being in the Oscars.]

PopStar interviewed Peter Facinelli, and he revealed some of the scenes that he's excited to film for New Moon. He also talked a lot about the fans and how everyone has been nice and respectful to the cast and crew. Keep it up, Twilighters! :) Click here to read the full story.

Joss Whedon, of Buffy The Vampire Slayer fame (and one of my idols!), was interviewed by TV Week, and he was asked about the Twilight phenomenon.

TVWeek: Vampires are big in pop culture right now. Have you seen “Twilight’?

Joss Whedon: I saw “Twilight.” And it’s—what can you say? It’s absolutely like crack. It strikes a tweener chord that’s just as loud as the apocalypse. You cannot deny the power of it. It just works. And I sort of like that... “Twilight” makes its own rules, as we all do. It takes what it wants and discards the rest but ultimately, it is kind of classical. They’re puffy-shirt vampires in a sense.

Tonner Dolls Twilight Collection: Edward and Bella (Wave 1)

Robert Tonner is proud to present a preview of his latest collection inspired by the hit film, TWILIGHT. Bella Swan and Edward Cullen are represented in fine quality vinyl/hard plastic with rooted saran hair and hand-painted facial features. Each collector figure posseses multiple points of articulated joints for maximum posing ability. 15" Bella Swan features a new teenage female body sculpt (with interchangeable shoes and limited clothing interchangeability with the 16" Tyler Wentworth® body sculpt), and Edward Cullen features the 17" Matt O'Neill™ body sculpt.

The dolls are not priced yet, and will be available in Spring 2009 on TonnerDIRECT.com. For more photos and more information about the dolls, click here.

As we said in Episode 1 of the Danag Podcast, judging from Tonner's Harry Potter line, the Twilight dolls would probably sell anywhere between $139.99 to $179.99.

[Cleolinda over at Livejournal pointed out that the Edward doll looks a lot like David Boreanaz (Angel in the Buffy series, click the link for a picture!). Man, I agree. Uh, yeah, wrong vampire, Robert Tonner.]

ADDENDUM:
The Bella Doll is wearing this ensemble (without jacket) [click for picture], which appeared in the outtakes seen in the end credits, and also in this outtake photo (whole ensemble). They may have also used this same image for Edward's costume, but they put on his trademark grey peacoat. Bella is also wearing the jacket here [click for picture].

News Round-Up: October 30

If you can hear buzzing, that's probably because Twilight is pretty much everywhere, and once again, we wouldn't be surprised if Twilight breaks the Internet. There's so much news, I am typing this fearing for my Google Chrome. I have so many tabs opened, I hope poor Chrome can still take it and doesn't crash on me. *takes a deep breath* Here we go.

MTV has a feature on Vampires, where they survey how Buffy, True Blood, The Dark Path Chronicles, 30 Days of Night, and Twilight stack up against each other. Not that there should be comparisons, really. There's room to enjoy all of those, and each has something special to offer. (Personally, I'm really hooked on True Blood right now. :D )

The Twilight Lexicon has a great interview with master dollmaker, Robert Tonner. Mr. Tonner described the process of making the incredible dolls that Tonner Dolls sells. He also revealed that the Bella and Edward dolls will be coming out during the first quarter of 2009, and is expected to sell for $150. Click here to read the full interview.

It's 22 days to go before Twilight is released in the US *sniff, sniffle* and the LA Times has posted today's installment of their Twilight Countdown. This time, they have a feature on Edi Gathegi, and wouldn't you know it, he's a hardcore Twilighter!

I've read them all. “Breaking Dawn”? I finished that in two days. I have to tell you, every time I finished one of them, a little piece of me died. I’d become invested in that world. I really felt sad. After the fourth one, I was like, ‘What am I going to do with my life.’

Everglow has several new stills from the film in their galleries.

BAE has posted scans of OK! Magazine (Philippines) provided by our own defune_hime. :) Once again, this issue of OK! Magazine is available in newsstands and magazine shops now for PhP140.

Empire Magazine has included Rob Pattinson in their list of 28 British Stars Taking Hollywood By Storm. They are also featuring Twilight in their new issue (the one with the Star Trek cover).

The same picture from Empire Magazine also appears in the New York Post's Popwrap section here.

Entertainment Weekly has posted a full review of the Twilight soundtrack (Grade: A-) here, along with a new movie still.

Inkworks is giving out a free promo card from the Twilight Movie Trading Cards series. If you want to avail of the offer, make sure to click here for instructions for International requests.

New TV spots have appeared on US TV: TV Spot #5, TV Spot #6. Thanks to BAE for the links.

TCP's friend in Plurk, katatonia, sent us a link to this Google Trends page showing how Robert Pattinson's popularity on the Internet has skyrocketed starting from the time he was cast in Twilight. And, we're not sure why, but in the Regions section, we're seeing the Philippines on the number one spot. Does that mean Filipinos just keep googling Robert? I really wouldn't be surprised. Apart from his stint in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, not too many Filipino Twilight fans really knew a lot about Robert and his work before the casting announcement, that's why there's so much interest in him. Well, everyone knows who he is now! :)

Tonner Doll Company named newest licensee for Twilight

Firm to produce collectible character figures in support of feature film’s November 21, 2008 release

Hurley, NY (September 22, 2008) – Tonner Doll Company, an award-winning designer and manufacturer of high-end collectible dolls and figures, has been granted the license for character figures based on the much-anticipated movie from Summit Entertainment, TWILIGHT, which arrives in theatres nation-wide on November 21, 2008.

Sculpted in the likenesses of the film’s lead characters - Edward Cullen (as portrayed by Robert Pattinson) and Bella Swan (as portrayed by Kristen Stewart), - each fully-authorized, highly-collectible TONNER CHARACTER FIGURE™ (TCF) will give fans the opportunity to possess their very own Edward and Bella for all eternity.

TWILIGHT TONNER CHARACTER FIGURES™ range from 15"-17” tall with multiple articulated joints for expressive movement and mobility. In keeping with the fine detail and high-end quality of Tonner’s other popular product lines, they will feature hand-detailed face painting, rooted hair, and authentic costuming.

Based on Stephenie Meyer’s best-selling book series, having sold more than 10 million copies domestically, Twilight has captured the attention of readers of all ages, via its action-packed, modern-day love story between a teenage girl and a “good” vampire, who must protect her from “bad” vampires while resisting his natural instincts.

Tonner's marketing division began to take shape with its HARRY POTTER film series and is now in full swing with the addition of TWILIGHT. Romances are abundant in both storylines and have become much more important elements to this burgeoning, sought after segment of buyers. “TWILIGHT was the perfect project to help launch us further into the teen and adult market,” Robert Tonner, CEO and head designer of the TONNER Company says.

“I am a huge fan of Stephenie Meyer’s work and I intend to read everything she writes,” Tonner explains. “She is unbelievably talented and it's an honor to be able to work on this project.”

Tonner plans to release other characters from the film in addition to Edward and Bella. “I want to make them all,” Tonner admits. “I’m having such a blast reading the books and getting to know all of the characters. I’m also reviewing movie stills, sculpting and designing. I’m completely immersed in their world,” he says.

TONNER CHARACTER FIGURES™ can be purchased direct via tonnercompanystore.com as well as at gift and toy specialty retailers nationwide, including FAO Schwarz.

So it looks like Stephenie got her wish for Twilight dolls after all. ;)

Seeing as the Harry Potter Tonner dolls sell from $79 for some of the smaller editions, to $175 for some of the exclusives, to as high as $180 for some of the 19" detailed dolls, it's a good thing NECA is also producing the more affordable action figures. However, based on the quality of the HP dolls, Twilight fans will surely look forward to Robert Tonner's new Twilight line.
