News Round-Up: February 23, 2010

UPDATE 2 (Feb 24): Pioneer finally sent us the special features list for the New Moon DVD but we have been asked to wait for their official press release before posting. However, we can tell you that we are very happy about what's included, and we feel that this local release is a very good buy if you can't afford a Region 1. We hope that those who got "burned" by the Twilight DVD fiasco will reconsider buying NM locally, since this is a different manufacturer/distributor. [CdL]

UPDATE: It's also been confirmed that Kristen and Taylor will be presenters at the Oscars, so be sure to catch the local telecast. We'll post schedules for that soon. [CdL]
===

Before anything else, let's discuss local Twi-news.

We asked Pioneer and they informed us that the DVD of New Moon is going to be released on March 20. The DVD will have bonus features but we have no specific details as of yet or if there are going to be promos attached to the release. Don't worry. We'll post them up once we do get them!

Now, as for the Eclipse trailer being attached to Remember Me (which, by the way, will be out March 12! Saw a poster of it up on Rockwell), it might not be possible since the distributors don't have the material yet. We're sure to get a glimpse of it online when it's out in the U.S. though, so no biggie? (And I'm sure the trailer will only be a bonus. After all, you'll be there to watch the gorgeousness that is RPattz, right? Hehe.)

-----

Congratulations to Kristen Stewart for winning both the Orange Rising Star Award at the BAFTAs and Elle's Woman of the Year!

Twilight co-stars who attended the BAFTAs included Jamie Campbell-Bower, Anna Kendrick, and Robert Pattinson. Anna was nominated for supporting actress for Up in the Air. RPattz presented the BAFTA for Original Screenplay. Videos can be seen on the Twilight Examiner.

Back in the U.S., fellow Twilight cast Taylor Lautner is nominated for a Young Artist award.
-----

We're not sure if this is the norm for all NM DVD releases but Robert Pattinson Life has screencaps of the Portuguese menus. If you're curious, you can check them out here and here.

By the way, Sam Bradley's The Manila Diaries is out. You'll need to purchase it here for $10 to view. :)

News Round-Up: February 12, 2010

I guess it's just apt that while we're taking a break from the Twilight stuff until Eclipse comes along earlier than usual in late June, we look ahead to Breaking Dawn. (Confusing wordplay, I know. Just go with it. Lol.)

So, I've decided to get my admin ass into gear to deliver this... uncertain but mostly happy (?) bit of news: Deadline Hollywood's exclusive news today is that the higher-ups in the Twibiz (I'm assuming this includes Mama Steph Meyer) have finally made the decision to make BD into TWO movies. Yep, count 'em. Two.
I have this from several sources, and it's definitive. Filming on the back-to-back movies would begin in mid-October, and Summit Entertainment is looking at "high-end" directors... Screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg (who's written all the Twilight Saga films) is currently adapting Breaking Dawn. Eclipse, the 3rd movie, will be released on June 30th.
Honestly, not sure how to feel about this yet. Listeners of our podcast would know that the admins are leaning more towards one movie, not two, if at all, after considering all the technicalities that would naturally come up with filming the [good] craziness that is Breaking Dawn. (Also, despite my... our... love for the cast and the franchise, we realize people do have to "grow up" sometime.)

But oh well, more movies means we get to enjoy the fandom for a wee bit longer. :)

EDIT:
Well, that was fast. Summit sources told MTV news that Breaking Dawn being two movies is as of yet, undetermined.
"No decision has been made," a representative for Summit Entertainment told MTV News after the Deadline Hollywood story ran. "As we have said all along, we are continuing to work with Stephenie Meyer to bring 'Breaking Dawn' to the big screen."
I wonder if this is just another case of jumping the gun...

Backtracking to some other recent news bits...

For those of you, who, like me, have their crazy inner Robstens going loca over all the Remember Me releases (which, by the way, will be shown locally March 12! I've heard it's a good movie and everyone acts well, including our boy RPattz!) TWO stills of Eclipse's meadow scene have surfaced on the internet! And because, apparently, there are some issues with their being online, I'm only posting the released version. For the new ones, you can view them here.

We'll talk the looong list of New Moon DVDs next time, for now, Walmart's Ultimate Fan Edition is said to contain a sneak peek at Eclipse and will be the only version to do so according to the Twilight Lexicon. The DVD comes in 2 discs.

On something not-so-Twilight-related: if you're on Facebook, join Sam Bradley's The Manila Diaries group! The docu he and Zack Spiger filmed while here in the Philippines will be out online February 22! (2-22! Two seems to be the number of the day.)

Trailer for Sam Bradley's "The Manila Diaries" Now Online

As most of you remember, Sam Bradley came to the Philippines for a series of performances in SM Supermalls in October 2009. At the same time, he shot a documentary about his stay here in our country directed by Zack Spiger (who also directed his music video for Sea Blue). Here's the trailer for the documentary, entitled The Manila Diaries, that Sam posted on his MySpace page:

The documentary is expected to be released in February:
Sam Bradley embarks on one of the most unique tour experiences of his young career when given the opportunity to play a series of concerts in the Philippines. Coincidentally, Bradley’s appearances were scheduled in the midst of the grueling aftermath of Typhoon Ondoy that ripped through the Philippines a week prior to his arrival. The reality of this tragedy sets the tone for the tour that is both revealing and introspective in nature.

The tour diary explores the interest in seeing the real surface of an unknown place while balancing the excitement of opportunity and attempting to maintain creative integrity.

News Round-Up: November 3, 2009

It's still early (and I updated the round-up kinda late last night) so we've only got a few bits for the news this morning... will probably add more later, especially when details of the Tokyo press conference with Rob and Chris Weitz come in.

But before anything else...

If you have a New Moon screening or promotion of your own, we would be happy to advertise it here on the blog. Barring guerilla tactics such as posting it on the comments post of our own New Moon screening blog entry, we would appreciate it if you, instead, drop us an email at twilightcoven@gmail.com with details--date, time, theater venue and special notes or concerns you'd like to add. Like last year, we'll be creating a separate entry for it and sticking the post link there on the right for general information purposes. A lot of people are asking us, too, if there are other public screenings besides our own, so don't hesitate to email us with the info! Thanks. :)

--

This next bit isn't Twilight-related but... Sam Bradley's official site is now up! If you have cool pictures of his performances here in the Philippines, you can submit them there. Just click on the PHOTOS link!

--

Okay, since obviously the NM cast tour doesn't include our fair country *sniffle*, here's a chance to still throw something out there:

Moviefone is asking for questions for their November 6 interview with Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner and Chris Weitz! Comment on their site to submit your question.

Likewise, Larry Carroll of MTV will be interviewing the New Moon cast.
For starters, Larry will be speaking to stars Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner individually, as well as director Chris Weitz. He'll also be doing a series of group interviews, which you can probably guess at the breakdown of: the Cullens, the Wolf Pack and the Volturi. So that's seven interviews in total: the four individuals plus the three groups. Our time is limited, so please keep your submissions to one question apiece per interview. Just send them over to tips@mtvmoviesblog.com by Wednesday night.
Wednesday night would be around Wednesday morning for us SEA peeps, I think.

It's a stretch, but why not submit something you've ALWAYS been dying to ask the cast, if you could? They might choose it! (For good measure, make sure to indicate that you're from the Philippines. Who knows, right?)

Sam Bradley Manila Bulletin Feature

TCP's good friend, Ronald Lim, wrote a profile on Sam Bradley for the Manila Bulletin. The article was published today.

If you weren't able to get a copy of the paper, you can read the article on Manila Bulletin's website here. The online version doesn't have any photos, but you can see how the article looked like on print here (see image).

We conducted our own interview with Sam on the same day Ronald did, so we were able to take some behind-the-scenes pics during the photoshoot. You can see them in our Flickr album here. We hope to obtain permission to publish some of the actual photoshoot images, but until then, this is the best we can do. :D

Thanks, Ronald!

Hey, everyone! We are looking for Twilighters from Pampanga and Cebu who can serve as our correspondents to cover Sam Bradley's performances in SM Clark (Oct. 14) and SM Cebu (Oct. 16). If you can be of help, please drop us a line at twilightcoven(at)gmail(dot)com . Thanks!

Danag Podcast Episode 18 Now Online!

It's a special treat for this episode because the admins get to interview "Never Think" co-writer, Sam Bradley! :D

Episode 18 - Don't arrest us, Charlie Swan, we just gave Sam Bradley a barrel man

In which:
- We interview
Sam Bradley!
- Clair de Lune was starstruck and is now a goner.
- Mabelle proved she's probably the most composed (and brave) person among the hosts.
- Minami was very disciplined and stopped herself from cussing when Sam sang during the interview. (LOL)
- We gave Sam 2 gifts -- one you'll hear about as we gave it to him; the other is the Barrel Man. (No, we won't reveal what happened when we gave
that, but it was a riot!)

This is a recording of our exclusive live interview with Sam Bradley; it's mostly raw audio except for content edits (for sections that were "off-the-record"). We apologize for any volume inconsistencies.

-------

Sam Bradley will be having a series of free concerts in October at 8 SM Supermalls!

About Sam Bradley:

Musician Sam Bradley has a distinct knack for entertainment. His prolific output is a clever and clean combination of soul, folk, and rock music - though the constancy of his sound unifies the varying genres.

His song "Too Far Gone" - a gentle compliment to the dinner scene in the movie "Twilight" - which he co-wrote with its leading male star Robert Pattinson, made its way onto the soundtrack in Pattinson's version entitled "Never Think". The Twilight OST instantly made its way to the number one spot on Billboard charts and gave Bradley the jump-start he needed to begin production on his first formal album -- not to mention, touring.

With cherry-picked precision, Bradley's live performances are a mixture of charming anecdotes and cultural affluence - a colorful array of both potent originality and diversity - and are well-known for being completely unforgettable.

Bradley's first EP releases on August 29, 2009, included on the already sold-out, limited release album are songs such as "Sea Blue" which has, alone, received 300,000 plays on his MySpace page. The EP includes 5 other songs titled "Eugene", "Derek", "Pretty Boy", "Passport", and "It Begins".
