News Round-Up: 23 February 2009

I'm really not a Rob Pattinson fangirl. Among the TCP Admins, that title would have to go to Minami. However, I must say, Rob looked absolutely dazzling tonight at the 81st Academy Awards. I've never seen him look this good, not even in the Twilight premiere. Rob presented the Romance Montage feature along with Mamma Mia! star, Amanda Seyfried. You can download a video of his appearance via Everglow, here.

Access Hollywood spoke to Rachelle Lefevre at the 2009 Independent Spirit Awards, and she said that she has already started wire work stunt training for New Moon. Thanks to Rachel of Access Hollywood/NBC for the tip.

More websites have picked up the announcement of the release date for Eclipse: Access Hollywood has a brief report and MTV's Larry Carroll voices out the concern of most Twilight fans. Larry further adds that Eclipse's June 2010 release will see it going up against Toy Story 3, Prince of Persia, and the other Jackson Rathbone starrer, The Last Airbender.

I personally am a believer in a good release date. Look at what happened to one of my favorite movies last year, The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian. Disney decided to move it from December 2007 (where it didn't really have any competition) to Summer 2008, where it was sandwiched between mega blockbusters Iron Man and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Families were forced to choose which movies to watch, so less people turned up to see Narnia. We know that Twilighters will troop to theatres in full force to watch Eclipse anyway, but can it dominate the market as much as Twilight did? More importantly, will Summit be able to make a good movie in so short a time, and ensure that even the average moviegoer will pick Eclipse over the other choices in the multiplexes?

So, guys, what do you think? What are your thoughts about Eclipse's release date? Should we be concerned not only about the short production schedule, but also the release date?

Summit is really rushing into things. But there might be other factors as to why they are rushing. personally, i think this can get way over their heads but who knows right? maybe Bro is with them?
If they want to do it that way..fine, just as long as they don't ruin it!

I am very concerned about the production quality. I was afraid about New Moon before but now I'm more for Eclipse. That's a *bleep* short production time frame!!! Plus being a Kristen Stewart fan, what will happen to the other movies that she's lined up to shoot in 2009? K-11, The Runaways... They have got to pay her big time because she's going to sacrifice a lot of good roles because of this. Unbelievable.

We're assuming that New Moon is going to be made, then Eclipse will be started after NM is done. But it looks like there will be two separate teams. The preparations for Eclipse sound like they will probably overlap NM, so there's actually a lot of time to prepare for and shoot it. If that's really the case, then we have nothing to worry about.

I'm very much concerned about this. I mean it's nice that we wont have to wait long to see Eclipse..BUT..June 2010 is really such a a rush launch date for this film. And how are they going to do it?? Right now, they're already having difficulty about the cast and all. They don't even have a director yet.Ok,forget the casting thing, I mean obviously the people who they're going to hire in New Moon will also reprise their roles in Eclipse, so that's one big worry down. They just have to find Leah Clearwater and other characters that will show up in Eclipse.

BUT STILL...This is too much for them to do in such a short period of time. Not to mention, the major films that will also be launch in that date.

I'm really hating Summit right now.

Maybe Summit is not rushing up the movie series? I don't know but, maybe, Summit has no options.

Big films only has two options for release dates: either SUMMER or NOVEMBER.

    Let's see:
    Twilight - Nov. 2008
    New Moon - Nov. 2009
Eclipse - (either they release it Summer 2010 or Nov. 2010)

    Here's my opinion:
So what if Summit will rush filming and releases Eclipse on Summer 2010 to coincide with the films Toy Story 3, Prince of Persia, and The Last Airbender?

They really don't have a choice.

Why? Because, for those who don't know yet, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Part 1) will be released on November 2010. Will Summit have the 3rd film clash with the first part of the final movie of the epic Harry Potter?

They would rather rush it for Summer 2010 than have it Nov. 2010.

If you don't want them to rush up the movies, I ask you: "Could they release it then by 2011 after the HP release?"

No, I think. Would Summit release it Summer 2011 when the 2nd Part of Deathly Hallows will also be released by May 2011?

Then maybe, they can release it Nov.2011?

Yes, they can, but the gap between New Moon and Eclipse would have been long, that is, 2 years.

This is only my opinion, by the way, no hard feelings as I'm entitled to one. You may say that I'm a pro-Potter, but I say to you, I'm a fan of both. And I think Summit wouldn't want to raise a quarrel between die-hard fans of both books, as the release dates for the HP films were first officially made and announced. First come, first serve.
