Celebrating Young Women’s Safety with Twilight Vampires and Beauties
What do you get when Twilight Coven Philippines, KALAKASAN, Women’s Media Circle, Summit Media and Viva Films come together for a night in Fully Booked? A Twilight Party for a cause.
This coming Friday, 14 November at 7 pm, doors open at the Top Shelf of Fully Booked in Bonifacio High Street, The Fort, for “Twilight Takes Back the Night: A Fundraiser for the Safety of Young Women.” Young women, their male friends and their moms are invited to perform, play games, do dramatic readings, or just enjoy a sneak preview from the much anticipated film version of Stephanie Meyer’s phenomenal Twilight Saga.
The series of novels revolves around how teenager Bella and the ageless vampire Edward fall in love, and has drawn millions of female readers to view the world that unfolds after night falls with some curiosity and enchantment.
"Twilight" Takes Back the Night checks out what has been happening to girls in this world after dark. The nighttime assault of musician and Ateneo graduate Tara Santileces in a jeepney proves that we should all do something to push for the safety of women at night. Short talks, demonstrations and information materials will guide young people so they can avoid becoming victims of harm done by ordinary humans. Writer and Goth diva Karen Kunawicz hosts the program. Copies of Seventeen and Cosmopolitan magazines will go to the first 150 to come in, while Twilight posters, tokens and movie passes will be raffled off throughout the night.
Program starts at 7pm. Tickets at the gate for 150 pesos each include food and drink stubs. Students with valid IDs pay only 100 pesos each. Proceeds will go to a hospital fund for Tara Santileces. Donations are welcome. For ticket inquiries, please call KALAKASAN at 735-5555, or Fully Booked in Fort Bonifacio.
