"The Hunger Games" Live Action Role Playing Game at the Manila International Book Fair
TCP just received an invitation from our friends from The New Worlds Alliance. They are teaming up with Scholastic Inc. and National Book Store for "The Hunger Games" Live Action Role Playing Game (LARP) at the Manila International Book Fair. The LARP will be held on September 20, 1:00pm at the SMX (SM Mall of Asia) during the last day of the MIBF.
This activity is based on Suzanne Collins’ best-selling young adult book, The Hunger Games. (This is a Stephenie Meyer recommended book, so there are probably many Twilighters out there who have read this.) The Hunger Games takes place in an unidentified future time period after the destruction of North America, in a nation known as Panem. Panem consists of a rich Capitol and twelve surrounding, poorer districts. As punishment for a previous rebellion against the Capitol, every year, one boy and one girl from each district are forced to participate in “The Hunger Games”, a televised event whereby the participants, or “tributes”, must fight to the death in an outdoor arena until only one remains. The story follows 16-year-old Katniss Everdeen, the female tribute from District 12, and her male counterpart, Peeta Mellark. (Source: Wikipedia)
The Challenges featured in the book will be re-enacted during the activity as a Live Action Role Playing game or LARP, where each participant must dress-up as a character, and must go through the entire activity in character.
