MTV has posted some screencaps from the exclusive clip of Twilight that they will be showing at the 2008 MTV Movie Awards. The clip appears to be from the final showdown in the ballet studio. Click here to jump to MTV Movies.

Entertainment Weekly has a sneak peek of a sneak peek of Breaking Dawn up on their website with a special intro from Stephenie herself. It's a short excerpt from Chapter 1, which is included in the Eclipse Special Edition that's out in U.S. stores today. Chapter 1 is entitled "Engaged", and this excerpt is so totally Bella.

The legions of Twilight fans should start checking their local listings and prepping up their TiVos. During MTV’s “Coming Attractions” Pre-Show (7:30pm E.T.) before the 2008 MTV Movie Awards, they will be airing a whole completed scene from Twilight, along with a pre-recorded message from Stephenie Meyer. MTV News Correspondent Kim Stolz (America’s Next Top Model) will also be interviewing stars Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, and Cam Gigandet on the red carpet in their first promotional appearance for the film. Kim is also giving fans a chance to weigh in on what questions she should ask the cast. Meanwhile, MTV’s Twilight Tuesdays continues with more Q&A with the cast.

MTV’s Twilight Tuesdays continues with a video interview with actor Taylor Lautner (The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lava Girl) who plays Jacob Black in the upcoming Twilight film. In the video, he talks about interviewing members of the Quileute tribe as part of his research for his role, and he reveals his favorite line in the books. [MTV Movies]

Finally, a very resourceful Twilight fan found out something interesting that will happen on August 1, the day before Breaking Dawn, book 4 of the Twilight series is set to be released (Beware, it might make sense only to Twilighters): After Twilight on August 1, we will see a New Moon. On the same day, there will also be a total solar Eclipse. The next morning, we will finally have Breaking Dawn. [Good sleuthing by Nicole of TwilightSeriesTheories.com] And to make the coincidence even freakier, this type of eclipse is called a Midnight Sun eclipse because it is visible in regions experiencing a “midnight sun”. Twilight Guy posted this very very cool story about a Twilight Dad whose surname is Hale, and who recently had twins (boy and girl) and who decided to name them Jasper and Rosalie. VERY COOL!

One of the things that makes the vampires in Stephenie Meyer's Twilight saga interesting is that they drive really really cool cars. MTV has a feature called "Twilight Rides" where they look at all the slick and not so slick *coughBella'sTruckcough* cars that are featured in the film. Twilight Rides #1 features Carlisle Cullen's black Mercedes S55 AMG. The S55 is classy, and fits its owner's personality perfectly. Carlisle, played by actor Peter Facinelli, is the handsome and compassionate doctor who is patriarch of the Cullen coven. [via MTV]

MTV is also reporting that contracts are under negotiation to produce sequels to Twilight based on the next two books, New Moon and Eclipse. If the deals push through, Summit plans to go the Lord of the Rings way, and shoot the two films simultaneously. [MTV Movies Blog]

The Times Online has a new profile up about Stephenie Meyer. Once again, there were the inevitable comparisons to J.K. Rowling, but Stephenie counters:

“Everyone is looking for the next J.K. Rowling. It's not going to happen. That's just something that is never going to happen again. She was, is, something that will not be repeated.”

One of the most interesting excerpts from this article has something to do with The Game:

In it, two players "are in competition to catch the same ball and have a huge, crazy midair collision 20 feet up in the air when a huge crash of thunder resounds," making it appear as though their clash created the resounding boom. One of them also "totally climbs up a tree crazy-style and catches a ball midair -- like way at the top of the tree. It's a really fun stunt."

MTV's Larry Carroll reports that Summit Entertainment has posted the official synopsis for the Twilight movie. This also appears on the official site.

Interesting news comes to us from the guys at /Film today. Three days after it debuted on MySpace, the teaser trailer for Twilight has already garnered over 2 million views. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull garnered 4.1 million views after one week, which means the Twilight trailer is on track to break that record. If it does, Twilight will be the most viewed movie trailer launched on the Internet... ever! In the same report, we also find out that Twilight was actually optioned to Paramount Pictures (the studio who produced Indy), but they dropped it. [via /Film]
