The 2011 MTV Movie Awards was held last Sunday (Monday, locally) and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse and its cast ran off with 5 of those cute popcorn buckets!

RPattz was most hilarious throughout the show -- throwing nervous quips left and right and KISSING TAYLOR LAUTNER (yes, people, you read that right) instead of Kristen upon winning Best Kiss -- such that he was inadvertently christened with an unofficial "Movie Awards MVP" title by the MTV Behind-the-Scenes liveblog. Later on, he also went up on stage to help Patrick Dempsey and Chelsea Handler present his recent co-star, Reese Witherspoon, with the Generation Award.

Congratulations to everyone for all their hard work and their intense clicking! I know some people just slaved over their mouses the week before the big day!

After the awards ceremony, actors Peter Facinelli, Jackson Rathbone, Ashley Greene, Kellan Lutz and Gil Birmingham, and Eclipse director David Slade tweeted their thanks to the fans.

When you put your heart and soul into something as intense as the duration of a film production, you become completely lost in it. You focus on doing your very best to get it right each day and you work on this for so long that you assume an ownership of it.

When shooting The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, I always felt an awareness of how many people this film would reach and as a result, knew that this film did not just belong to myself, the producers and the studio, but more so, to all of you, the fans of The Twilight Saga.

At the end of the day, after all the hard work is done, all that's left is the film itself, and your overwhelmingly positive and supportive responses have made me feel like we must have done something right. As a filmmaker, this is a rare and strange feeling of connection with an audience of which I will never forget and I thank you all for it.

Dear fans of The Twilight Saga,

I want to congratulate you for reaching over 6 million fans on The Twilight Saga Facebook page.

It's hard to fathom that it was just over one year ago that I started constructing this third and epic adventure which takes place in the town of Forks.

I want to share a story about one of our days of shooting with you.

It was a Friday night and the rain was relentless. We were at La Push to shoot the tribe's histories, a great speech by Billy Black. We had Taylor and Kristen and the whole wolf pack around a campfire as the heavens let loose on us.

Gil Birmingham was in fine form as the rain hammered down on us all, we adjusted our lights so that the rain vanished into the black of night.

We constructed a tent over the scene to keep everyone dry as we worked, every 15 minutes or so we would have to tip it to stop the collecting rain from splitting the fabric.

For some reason still unknown, around 3am, the wolf pack stood exactly in the way of several gallons of rainwater as it was being cleared. Being the wolf pack, they just laughed it off as they stood there soaked to the bone.

We worked through the mud and the rain all night, until we had the scene perfected.

As we left, dawn was now cracking and in the dim light I passed a small army of fans who had braved the weather for the entire night, still standing there, holding drenched flowers and waiting to get a glimpse of our actors.

So, to those of you who stood behind our security, who waited in line at theatres overnight, to those of you who just love these stories, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse is a love letter to you.

Each day I felt the weight of your favourite scenes, your favourite lines, your dreams and your imagination.

It has been an unforgettable journey, and now as I finalise the last prints to ready the film for your local theaters, I cannot wait for you to see it.

Belated Happy Chinese New Year everyone! (And, ok, for those of you who celebrate, belated happy hearts day, too!)

If you haven't been on Twitter, you missed the excitement that was "Eclipse stills" popping up last weekend. (Robsten! Meadow scene! Hot kiss! LEG HITCH!!!) Unfortunately, we suspect they have been leaks--one minute they were up on the sites and then they were pulled down, plus David Slade just made some blank tweets, which may or may not be connected to that but who knows? *gulps*--which is why we won't be sharing them here. The powers-that-be have determined that it is too early for the Twilighters to rejoice. After all, those scenes might not even make the cut! (Noooo! LEG HITCH $%#@&!!!) But I'm sure scraps of the stills are floating, somewhere, out there, on the internet. So, next time, mind our Twitter board down there for the random squeeing. Hehe.

Anyhoooooo... news.

While we're waiting for details on the local New Moon DVD and for those of you who want one of the versions they make State-side, TwilighterzAnonymous has compiled a list of the others that will be coming out in the US and UK. They've got all kinds of nifty things packaged, too. Borders has the wolf pack and Cullen crests on a medallion. Barnes and Noble will have a free bag clip. Best Buy will have a cellphone skin. Target's has a 3rd disk of special features and a film cell. Walmart's Ultimate Fan Edition will be the only one in the US that will have a 7-minute sneak peek at Eclipse. Of course, if you have relatives in the UK, it's just been reported that their DVDs will have the same Twilight Saga: Eclipse sneak peek as Walmart's, so that might be another option. Content info is listed here.

What else have we missed?

Kristen Stewart and Anna Kendrick looking very pretty and showing the world that girls rock on Vanity Fair's Hollywood Issue.

And Robert Pattinson's somewhat controversial feature and photoshoot with Details magazine. Pictures you find may not be NSFW or folks-under-18, but otherwise, the interview is cool. We see Rob being candid, or at least, more candid than usual without crossing boundaries. A summary of it can be found here, although that article is more a chastisement of John Mayer than anything.

Episode 19 of the Danag podcast will be up this week, where we cover Sam Bradley's Philippine mall tour, the New Moon soundtrack, and a teeny bit of the movie companion (no spoilers, promise!)

Also, thanks to the peeps who claimed their tickets for the blocked screening last Saturday! Our next claiming date will be this Halloween, October 31. :) Wow, it's less than a month 'til New Moon!

And yet, the biggest news recently has been Eclipse-related. Summit has unveiled the title logo for the third movie on their official Twilight twitter account.

Now this logo is the most vampiric-looking of 'em all. Very David Slade. What do you think?

Eclipse is also in the process of wrapping up and heading for post-production. Only a few scenes left to shoot, and then it's the huge promotional rollercoaster for New Moon for the cast, starting with the "Twilight Saga: New Moon" (U.S.) City Cast Tour. Added reasons to go besides the "stargazing": performances by some of the artists on the OST, and special access for the few who acquire VIP cred. (We only wish we could experience this.)

On MTV.com: The Vampire's Assistant actor says that Cirque du Freak's vamps are cooler than Twilight's. (Before you go all ballistic, though, click on the link and read the article first!) Also, Robert Pattinson's Edward Cullen was inspired by James Dean.

" 'Rebel Without a Cause' was a big influence on the first ['Twilight' film] — it influenced the hairdo and stuff," Pattinson told USA Today. "In lots of ways, it has a very similar character arc: An everyday girl brings this relatively strange individual out of his slump."

Pattinson said he doesn't understand his appeal to young women, and even as his star continues to shine brighter and brighter each day, he's still not used to all the attention. "I'm not entirely sure what it is," he said. "I'll probably realize afterward how I could have controlled it a little bit more. But I am still like a deer in headlights."

Ah, funny how he described himself. That's exactly how I thought he looked like on the cover of USA Weekend.

tMF discusses Chris Weitz and what he can bring to the Twilight franchise. And if New Moon turns out well, would you consider him to direct Breaking Dawn?

More wolf pack meaty-goodness for you: Vanity Fair has an interview with Chaske Spencer. And if you missed it (like we did), they also have interviews with Alex Meraz and Kiowa Gordon.

Will the New Moon soundtrack be as successful as the Twilight one? Hitfix.com predicts it will be number one by this week on the Billboard charts, but will soon be eclipsed (no pun intended) by MJ.

In the meantime, if you were wondering why and how songs and artists were chosen for the soundtrack, read New Moon Rising: The Billboard Cover Story on Billboard.com. It's a good read and very enlightening (and for those asking, explains why Rob doesn't have a song in it.) Some excerpts:

"Keeping it as a combination of obviously great artists -- but making it interesting for people to discover -- was a very carefully considered view," Katz says.

This love triangle forms the plot of "New Moon," and accordingly the soundtrack is moody and wistful, but with an undercurrent of strum und drang machismo. Each song is exclusive to the soundtrack, as-yet-unreleased, and most were written specifically for the movie, remixed or given new lyrics to fit the film's themes. "I was very inspired by the John Hughes movies of the '80s, which made me listen to indie rock bands that probably weren't meant for 13-year-olds: Yello, the Psychedelic Furs, New Order," says music supervisor Alexandra Patsavas, who also produced the album, as she did for the soundtrack to "Twilight." "Hopefully we can create a similar moment in time for 2009 teenagers."

Atlantic Records has officially announced the release of the New Moon soundtrack on their site.

Curious about some of the artists in the OST? Here's two features: St. Vincent talked to MTV about their inclusion in the album. Meanwhile, Hurricane Bells explains to EW how they got a song in.

On Eclipse, EOnline now has Melissa Rosenberg commenting on the darker turn the movie's going with director David Slade.

"David has a darker sensibility, so it clicks," Rosenberg said. "The story has a slightly darker tone. I mean, it goes into a full-out battle, so it is darker in the nature of what it is. David was the perfect director for it."

I don't mind as long as the leg-hitch scene and the proposal--"I promise to love you forever, every single day of forever"--is there. Hopefully, that line won't end up like the lion-lamb line that still makes our skin crawl whenever we watch it. (We already know the tent scene is there, so no worries about that.)

Thanks to Amala_Thea for the heads-up, we now know that New Moon will have a preview at the Rome International Film Festival, same as Twilight last year. The news bit is here but it's in Italian. :P

Nordstrom's Twilight tees are being modelled by the interns over on MTV. Here they are wearing two of the wolf pack shirts (guest starring Cam Gigandet! He doesn't wear them, though. Haha.) & two with the Cullen and Volturi crests.

The LA Times' Hollywood Backlot has gorgeous behind-the-scenes pictures from New Moon, including this almost silhouette of Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart (that's my favorite! -minamic) We're assuming this is Bella's dream sequence they're filming at the time.

Personally, I love reading a Chris Weitz interview because (to me) he places much thought in his answers and you gain a lot of insight on the process of being a director. In his latest interview with Boxoffice.com, he shares more on New Moon, his frustrations with Golden Compass, and how he wouldn't be here if it weren't for vampires. Also, he explains the amount of shirtless-ness in the movie:

It's there in the script, and that's one for the ladies, really. Women have been objectified plenty in Hollywood films. And there's still sort of a chasteness to the objectification in Twilight and New Moon. One approaches it hopefully with a bit of tact—not just an exercise in beefcake peddling. You hope when you're shooting any kind of above-the-waist nudity that it suits the demand of the moment, it isn't just in there for the hell of it. That being said, I think we did come to Comic-Con with a lot of muscles and it was really fun to see the reaction to it. I've tried to make films that take into account the female members of the audience. Even American Pie, which comes from a genre that is notoriously misogynist.

From director CW, to screenwriter MR... that would be Melissa Rosenberg, who chastises in an interview with Marc Malkin over on E!:

"They were beautifully cast for those roles and their chemistry is amazing. I think people often confuse chemistry onscreen with chemistry offscreen. I think people should just enjoy what's onscreen and leave their privates lives wherever they are... I don't actually know what they are."

This is regarding Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart. But let's not go there. Read the article for the tidbits she gives on New Moon, Riley's character beef-up in Eclipse and the undecided fate of a Breaking Dawn movie!

Anna Kendrick also talks New Moon over on MTV.com. They played around with their human characters, apparently, but as long as the vamps aren't touched that's alright, right? (That's what she hopes.)

Barnes and Noble already has the 2010 New Moon calendar up for sale. Doubt it'll make the rounds locally, so if you have any relatives or close personal friends in the U.S., maybe you can ask it for a Christmas gift. :P

NEW MOON NEWS
Starting the round-up today with a short interview with a TCP-admin favorite. Edi Gathegi talks to VH1 about being on his last Twilight series film, getting to wear SHOES for once, what cardboard animal replaced the fuzzy wolves he had to face, and his one "sparkling" regret.

Though that scene will be Gathegi's last as vampire Laurent, he said he can't be too upset about not returning to the saga. "Honestly, perspective. I'm happy I'm in 'Twilight.' I'm happy I made it to 'New Moon.' Things could be worse."

Thank you, Edi, for portraying Laurent and for having fun with the role, and just for basically being one of the happier cast! :)

People.com has the Volturi up on its site, where Chris Weitz explains his choice of actors to portray the royal trio:

Although Aro and his brothers Marcus (Christopher Heyerdahl) and Caius (Jamie Campbell Bower) have been "alive" for thousands of years, Weitz says he "deliberately" gave them a younger look in the film – for which he credits author Meyer.

"Stephenie was very keen to steer away from a kind of wizard-y look for the vampires," says Weitz. "They do look quite young, but they convey a formality and self-possession, which comes from age."

So I guess this sheds light on the mystery that is JCB's casting?

MTV has a feature on the wolf pack! Kiowa Gordon, Chaske Spencer and hottie Alex Meraz talked about preparing for their roles, the effect of reading blogs, and how things got out-of-hand on the New Moon set.

"I decided, all right, the Wolf Pack stay up all night looking for who's killing people on the res, so we don't sleep very much. So I thought it would be a great idea if I stayed up for 10 days straight." What should have been a simple scene — a confrontation between Bella (Stewart) and the Wolf Pack — became, in Meraz's mind, his "Brando moment." Wanting to try something different, the actor played the scene overly aggressive: screaming, grabbing Stewart by the throat, hurtling his line at her.

"[Director] Chris Weitz comes off-set like, 'Yeah, I like the energy Alex, but just take it down a little,' " Spencer chimed in: "Meanwhile the producers are freaking out back there."

" 'Cause nobody touches Kristen Stewart," joked Meraz.

Kind of intriguing how most of the sites that link to this article (and the title on the page itself) focus on that part. Anyway, more on the wolf pack here.

Eclipse production is really on the move at the moment up in Vancouver, and updates are actually coming in via twitter-friendly director, David Slade.

Twilight Beauty has officially opened its doors... web-wise, at least. The splash page and products look cool and we now have a clearer view of the Volturi crest. The question is, will it sell? (Maybe we should have a local magazine sample the products...)

Jackson Rathbone and the 100 Monkeys might be touring the U.S. after Eclipse wraps according to this news bit.

MTV's Hollywood Crush asks: Is Twilight the ONE movie you would take to the end of the world? Because poll results have yielded a resounding YES. Like the writer, though, we're not so sure that should be the case. (I personally would choose Jim Henson's Storyteller--it's cheating, I know--or Labyrinth. Puppetry is becoming a lost art, and, well, I grew up with the muppets. -minamic) But there are billions of people and lots of movies, so one can bring Twilight and the other billion will take care of the rest. Would you bring Twilight and if not, what movie would you choose to bring, to the end of the world? It's a fun question, so let us know! :)

Yesterday, movie and entertainment website /Film dug up old video of recently-named Eclipse director, David Slade, talking about the Twilight film in not-exactly-glowing terms:

…and so yesterday we were trying to find a movie to see and we’d seen all the good ones, you know, and there was nothing really coming out this weekend that we really fancied at all and having directed a vampire film and really gone for something completely different to the kind of romantic, you know, repressed hormone teen vampire movie we really weren’t interested in seeing Twilight but a lot of people said lets go so I wrote -

“Twilight drunk? No, not even drunk. Twilight on acid? No, not even on acid? Twilight at gun point? Just shoot me.”

[That’s like] a poem in a way [...] at this point excites me even though people think I’m a really violent and unpleasant person I actually do have this romantic violent side to me. Maybe I should have seen Twilight.

This also comes at the heels of Slade's deletion of his Twitter account, where he initially Tweeted that "Just shoot me" line.

While this looks bad on the surface, here's hoping that the more rabid Twilighters won't blow this one out of proportion. This writer isn't even sure why /Film felt compelled to dig this up in the first place. But as always, we bring you the news, so here it is.

Oh, to be in Italy in May. Twilight Italia reports that New Moon filming will commence at Montepulciano May 25-29. They've also issued a casting call for extras. The newsbit in english can be read at His Golden Eyes.

Maybe you don't have to be in Italy to be in a Twilight film. Maybe you just have to star in a supposed German TV reality show, as posted by BBC News. Of course, that probably also means you have to be... well... German, first. [minamic: I don't know how the winner is going to make it for New Moon, though, since the show starts June 8. Or maybe it's for Eclipse? And for what role? It sounds fishy to me.]

Lastly on the New Moon front... it's so long Carter Burwell. Alexandre Desplat, the French composer of films such as The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and The Queen, as well as Chris Weitz's own The Golden Compass, will be penning the music for the Twilight sequel, according to Upcoming Film Scores. Curiosity wonders if Desplat will be remaking the lullaby, which figures in the first part of the book, or if they'll be scrapping its inclusion altogether.

Want to know more about the man who will be responsible for bringing that oh-so-romantic Cullen proposal to life? MTV gives you the juice on The Twilight Saga: Eclipse's director, David Slade. We are intrigued with how he will transition from the gore of 30 Days of Night to the delicacy that is the Twilight universe. [minamic: And like I twitted, Eclipse is my favorite book. DAVID SLADE TO DIRECT SUMMIT ENTERTAINMENT'S THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE

Los Angeles, CA April 22, 2009 — Summit Entertainment announced today that David Slade has been hired to direct THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE from a screenplay written by Melissa Rosenberg. THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE, the third film in the studio's TWILIGHT film franchise based on the Stephenie Meyer's blockbuster book series, will be released theatrically in North America on Wednesday, June 30, 2010. The announcement was made by Erik Feig, Summit's President of Production.

Filmmaker Slade came to prominence as a director for his work on 2006's engrossing film HARD CANDY starring Academy Award® Nominated actress Ellen Page as well as directing 2007's genre hit 30 DAYS OF NIGHT which opened to number one at the box office its first weekend of release.

In ECLIPSE, Bella once again finds herself surrounded by danger as Seattle is ravaged by a string of mysterious killings and a malicious vampire continues her quest for revenge. In the midst of it all, she is forced to choose between her love for Edward and her friendship with Jacob — knowing that her decision has the potential to ignite the ageless struggle between vampire and werewolf.
