Danag Ep 23 Contest Winner!

Congratulations to Kim (kymishcullen) for winning TCP's Danag Episode 23 Contest! She will receive a Twilight Care Package consisting of books, posters, and other Twilight merchandise. Please wait for the confirmation e-mail for details on how to claim your prize.

As a refresher, here's the question posed and the winning entry for Danag Ep23:

What do you like most about the Eclipse movie? (max. of 5 sentences)

What I liked most about the movie is how the official soundtrack was used in the film. Frankly, it was very hard to listen to because it is "too indie" for me. At the most, I liked 3 songs out of the album but after watching the movie for a bunch of times, the songs made its mark to me. Together with my favorite scenes, the rhythm and style deeply influenced the mood and impact of it (Jacob with the motorcycle+the music is the scene where somehow, for a millisecond, that I turned team Jacob lol). It conveys more emotion than the previous movies and it represented the characters feelings very well.
Thanks to everyone who sent in entries to the contest, and keep checking back here for more opportunities to win Twilight goodies!

Due to the number and type of items in the prize, the winner will have to meet up with one of our administrators to claim them based on an agreed date and venue. Good luck everyone and we're looking forward to reading your entries!

TCP 2nd Anniversary Contest Winners

After much delay, we are FINALLY announcing the winners for our TCP 2nd Anniversary Contest! We were planning to announce the winners via upcoming episode of Danag (which we did), but we’re still in the editing process (hopefully we’ll have it up before Jacob gets too frustrated that he’ll set out to buy himself a shirt).

We suspect that most of you were wary in joining (given CdL’s disclaimer) the Special Feature Contest, since we didn’t receive any entries for that contest (too bad though, we were eager to see what you guys will come up with given a shirtless Rob!). So we decided to have a first place and a runner-up winner for our Graphic Excerpts Challenge! Without further ado, the winners are:

1st place: Abigail Corpuz (winner of 1 copy of Twilight: The Graphic Novel Vol. 1 + Twilight movie poster + TCP pins)
2nd place: Jerica dela Cruz (winner of 1 copy of Twilight: The Graphic Novel Vol. 1)

Here’s is the winning entry for our Graphic Excerpts Challenge:

So congratulations Abigail and Jerica! We will e-mail you regarding the details for the shipment of your prizes.

TCP 2nd Anniversary Contest

UPDATE: WE'RE EXTENDING THE CONTESTS' DEADLINE TO APRIL 5, 2010!

To celebrate the upcoming second anniversary of Twilight Coven Philippines on April 1 (no, this is not a joke), the TCP administrators are launching another set of contest slike last year, to thank all of the TCP members, site visitors, Danag podcast subscribers, and other fellow Twilighters.

Only registered TCP members residing in the Philippines are eligible to join. To be a TCP member, just register in our forum. Promo runs from March 16 to March 31. Click on the link at the end of each contest description to view the mechanics.

GRAPHIC EXCERPTS CHALLENGE

Get a chance to win a copy of Twilight: The Graphic Novel Vol. 1 by sending in your own graphic novel-style artwork of your favorite scene in Eclipse (yes, Eclipse!). The winning entry will be featured in the TCP blog site, while the rest of the entries will be shown in the TCP multiply site. Mechanics, click here: >> Read the rest of this post
1. Illustrate your favorite scene in Eclipse as if you were drawing the graphic novel for the book. Dialogue must be lifted directly from the book, while the images should be based on your own interpretation of the text.

2. You may NOT use official images (from the Twilight movies and from the Twilight Saga books). You have to use your own original drawings. We will even accept drawings of stick figures, as long as they're your ORIGINAL work.

3. The entry should be in black and white / pen-and-ink only. Colored artworks will immediately be disqualified.

4. The entire artwork should be drawn on an 8.5" x 11" (letter size) paper. Scan your work (150 dpi max) and save it in JPEG format (.jpg)

5. All entries should have the following disclaimer somewhere ON THE ARTWORK: "This artwork is for competition purposes only. Not for sale." Your artwork should also be labeled with your name.

6. E-mail your entry with the subject "Graphic Excerpts Challenge" to tcppromos(at)gmail(dot)com along with your name, age, contact number, and TCP forum username. Only one entry is allowed for every TCP member. Other entries received through our other means of contact (twilightcoven mail, Multiply, Twitter, etc.) will not be acknowledged.

SPECIAL FEATURE CONTEST

Since we're... uh, amused that there's a feature in the New Moon DVD involving shirtless shots of Robert Pattinson, we decided to incorporate it into this contest! Get a chance to win a copy of the The Twilight Saga: New Moon DVD (Region 3, Philippine-release) by sending the most creative picture of yourself with a shirtless Robert Pattinson (no lewd/naughty pictures please, we trust you, hehe). The winning entry will be featured in the TCP blog site, while the rest of the entries will be shown in the TCP multiply site. Mechanics, click here: >> Read the rest of this post
1. Simply send in your most creative digital picture of yourself with a shirtless Robert Pattinson. That's it!

2. Please don't send us lewd/naughty pictures. Remember that the photo will be posted online; if it's something you don't want your parents or co-workers or friends or Robert Pattinson himself to see you in, then don't make it and don't send it. :P You may also put a caption on the photo, LOLCats-style, but please refrain from using lewd language as well. :P

3. Each TCP member can send in only one picture.

4. Send your picture as an attachment to tcppromos(at)gmail(dot)com with the subject "Special Feature Contest". In the body of your e-mail, please include your name, age, contact number, and TCP forum username. You can also send your entries via Twitpic by directly replying to us (@twilightcovenph), along with the message "Sent in by (your forum username)". Other entries received in other networks (twilightcoven mail, Multiply, etc.) will not be acknowledged.

TCP members can join more than one contest. If a TCP member wins in more than one contest, he or she will be contacted to ask which prize he or she prefers, and the TCP Administrators will choose another winner for the other contest. We will acknowledge that we received your entry within 48 hrs, otherwise, kindly notify us by emailing twilightcoven(at)gmail(dot)com .

If you have any questions, please post a comment.

Good luck and enjoy creating your entries! We will certainly enjoy looking at them. ;)

Winners, please send us an e-mail at: tcppromos(at)gmail(dot)com along with your Full Name, Contact Number, and Home Address so that we can inform you about how to claim your prizes.

The winners were selected by a random draw, and not based on their answers. :)

Thanks so much to everyone who joined the contest. We wish we have prizes to give to all of you for being such good sports. Your answers were all very cool, and we had so much fun reading them that we want to address some of the requests and wishes:

To all those who wanted to gift us with trips to New Moon/Twilight locations, thank you for the thought. If you ever win the lottery, we hope you don't forget us. :p

To those who are wishing that TCP will organize a Twilight Convention and bring the actors here: you guys don't know how much we wish this too. Unfortunately, it will take a LOT of money (hey, again, if you win the lottery...) and we wouldn't have the means to do it in the foreseeable future. However, as we said in Danag Podcast Episode 13, we will soon be joining the New Worlds Alliance. If TCP gets accepted, then we'll be part of the annual Science Fiction and Fantasy Convention! We hope you'll support TCP if we ever get to participate, and who knows, we might all find a way to make our dream of having Twilight celebs come to the Philippines come true. :)

To those who said they will give us Twilight cars of our choice if they have the money... that'll be a Silver Volvo C30 for me, please. Kthnxbye.

To those who want a TCP-sponsored New Moon premiere... we want that too. Don't worry, we will work on it. :)

To those who wanted to gift us with veto power over what gets included in the New Moon movie... that would be great, but scary. "With great power comes great responsibility." Besides, I don't think Summit will give us that, not even if you pay them a ton of money. :D But thank you for your trust in TCP. :)

To those who said they wanted more Danag podcasts... we enjoy doing them, so it's nice to know we have an audience who actually wants more. We have 2 immediate new episodes planned and conceptualized. The scripts are being written, and we will be recording them soon. :)

To those who wanted to gift us Admins with time with our favorite Twilight men, thanks for the thought. I'm pretty sure Jennie Garth would not allow Peter Facinelli to spend that much time with me no matter how much you pay them, so I might have to pick Kellan Lutz for this one. :p You already know who the other Admins will pick. :p

To those who wanted to gift us with the chance to meet Stephenie Meyer, thank you. We'd love that too... if she'll agree to it. ;)

Again, thanks to everyone for your continued support. :)

It's TCP's 1st Anniversary!

UPDATE (4/8): This contest is now CLOSED. Please stay tuned for the results of the raffle. :)

UPDATE (4/3): Co-Admin Minamic donated a copy of "Twilight: Director's Notebook" by Catherine Hardwicke to our pool of prizes for this contest! Thank you, Minamic *glomp*!

To Charlene: please wait for our confirmation e-mail to find out how to claim your prize.

Charlene's Twilight Movie Review

One thing that captivated me about the Twilight novel was its rapt plot, flow and character development; the personas balance out each other as the plot unfolds. And so I went into the theater on the 26th of November eager to see that magic translated onto the big screen.

The movie was decent, but it failed to capture and satisfy me as the novel did. Half of the niceties that were expected to be included were missing. It had strong points, though. The cinematography was great; Hardwicke was able to capture the atmosphere of rainy forks. The dark vampiric aura was also captured well. I also loved the flashback clips that were inserted in some scenes. The lead actors were convincing; Rob Pattinson blew me away with his powerful performance of a brooding vampire who falls in love for the first time, although the “dazzle factor” was not as evident as I expected it to be; Kristen Stewart was the perfect klutzy Bella. What surprised me, though, are the minor characters that made the movie more amusing.

But in Hardwicke’s effort to compress a 500+ page novel into her two-hour film, she had made the movie’s pace too fast—scenes jumped from one to the other, seemingly unrelated scenes were squeezed into one, unimportant dialogues were added—that some parts failed to impact the audience and show the development of Edward and Bella’s relationship; so much so that even the cheesy lines that we have loved from the book were poorly delivered because of the excessive modification of major scenes. The actors were not able to build up their characters for a proper climax. Everything felt rushed. It was a bit disappointing that the Cullens were not given that much exposure in the movie too. It would have been good if they also showed how they became what they are. I came out of the cinema demanding for MORE; if I felt that way, how much more for the confused non-readers of the book? Because of its lack of details and hasty narration, the movie fell short in providing proper explanations to them.

Overall, it was enjoyable, but it lacked qualities that were present in the book. But considering that it is only the first of the four books, and even having only a meager budget, it was still forgivable. I do hope that New Moon would come out better.

Rating: 6.5 out of 10 Apples

Spot-the-Costume Contest Winners!

Congratulations to those who won TCP's Spot-the-Costume Contest! The question is: “In which scene do the Edward and Bella costumes featured in Barnes and Noble Seattle’s Window Display FIRST APPEAR TOGETHER in the Twilight movie?”

Answer: It's a trick question actually, the costumes in the display DO NOT APPEAR TOGETHER AT ALL in the Twilight film. Bella's costume appears in the Port Angeles scene, as most of the entries have asserted. However, Edward's shirt during that scene (and successively, clearly shown in La Bella Italia) is actually darker than the one in the display. Edward's costume appears in the meadow scene. If you would notice, his shirt is lighter and fits the one in the display (and may also explain why Sesomnhoj noticed that there are mud, etc. on his shoes). Click on the images for a closer look.

So congratulations to those who got it right! You win (1) Twilight movie poster and (1) Twilight bookmark:

Erika Y.
Justine E.
Altrina L.

Please wait for your confirmation letter for instructions on how to claim your prizes.

Once again, we thank everyone who sent in their entries. Be sure to check the site regularly for upcoming contests. We will post the winners of the Twilight Fan Review Contest, Twilight Movie Day Photo Contest, and Button Pin Design Contest during the week.

Danag Episode 07 is now online!

Finally, Episode 07, our Twilight Movie Review, is up! This episode took 2 recordings and about a week to edit. Not that there's anything special in there, it's just that we really wanted to post something good. At least, we hope it's actually good.

Episode 07 - You Know Something's Wrong When You Think That The Best Actor Is The Volvo

In which:
- We talk about dolls.
- We thank a lot of people.
- Minami is in this episode only as a sparkly spirit who doesn't miss us.
- We extol the virtues of watching Twilight in digital format.
- Mabelle gives us an impromptu Malaysian language tutorial.
- Clair de Lune sighs every time Peter Facinelli is mentioned.
- Daene falls for Justin Chon.
- Mabelle giggles every time James/Cam is mentioned (what's new?).
- You find out what happens when you leave the TCP Admins alone (we fantasize about... well, you'll find out when you listen)
- We actually review the Twilight movie. (honest, we did!)

Good luck!

Help break the record!

Thanks to HisGoldenEyes for inspiring this idea...

There's a fan initiative to break the record for the most trailer views in one week on MySpace. The current record is being held by Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, with 4.1 million views in one week. The final theatrical trailer for Twilight has roughly 3.4 million views as of this writing, 3 days after it has been released.

We want to contribute to the initiative by giving you guys a bit of an incentive:
Watch the trailer again on MySpace, then name all the countries whose flags appear in that scene where you see the Philippine flag, 1:01 into the trailer. The first person who will send the correct names of ALL the countries will get a New Moon Temporary Tattoo and a Breaking Dawn Sticker from us! Send your answers to: tcppromos(at)gmail(dot)com

We know there are a lot of screencaps of that scene already, but if you don't go to MySpace to view the trailer again, then that defeats the purpose, right? :p So please access the trailer here (regular def) or here (high-def) on MySpace as you try to answer our question so that your view can be counted!

Good luck!

UPDATE: This is how geeky we are... There are 13 identifiable flags, if you look at the HD version. One of them is an old flag of a country, one was inverted when it was hung (naku, lagot), and one is an alternate flag/emblem. :) The 14th flag is a bit too difficult to positively identify, so we'll accept 13 answers. :)

This is the last clue for the week. If you've found all the right words, you will form a statement that will give you an idea about Twilight Coven Philippines' other new project aside from Postcards for Stephenie. *wink wink*

We will give an extra New Moon Temporary Tattoo + a Breaking Dawn Sticker Set to the first person who will email us their idea of what the new project is, based on the complete statement for Twilight ImPRINTS Week 5. Of course, you have to get it right to win the extra prizes. :p Please read the contest mechanics here and follow the instructions for sending in your answer for the week, then just add what you think the new TCP project is.

We will still conduct a regular raffle among those who will send in correct statements for Week 5. The regular winner will get also get a New Moon Temporary Tattoo and a Breaking Dawn Sticker Set, but will get the additional 5 TCP Button pins of his/her choice. :)

Good luck!
