News Round-Up: 19 March 2010

The Twilight: The Graphic Novel Vol. 1 is now available in local bookstores! To know more information regarding the graphic novel, USA Today discusses the material and its contribution to the Twilight franchise.

The next anticipated release for Twilight fans is The Twilight Saga: New Moon DVD which will be out in stores next week. If you're planning to buy other versions aside from / other than the local version, here's a Summit-approved New Moon DVD guide to help you decide.

Also on the New Moon DVD front, here's an interview of CNN with Chris Weitz talking about making the film and what we can expect from the DVD.

MTV on the other hand released a few clips that will be featured in the DVD. Access Hollywood also sent in this clip (below) regarding the cliff diving scene:

Now from New Moon to Breaking Dawn news, Entertainment Weekly has some leads on the possible directors that might take the helm for the final movie. Moreover, Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning talked about the major plot points that will be considered in the last movie.

In celebration of Lykke Li's birthday, the music video for Possibility has been released. This song is part of the The Twilight Saga: New Moon Official Soundtrack.

Answers to some FAQs

We've been receiving many repetitive questions here and on Twitter about several topics. Instead of answering every single one of the same tweets and emails and comments, we're gonna take the time to address the frequently asked questions here. :)

Q. When is the New Moon DVD going to be released locally?
A. Pioneer Films says they're also aiming for a March release, same as the US. There are no definite details yet, though. Keep monitoring this site for updates.

Q: When will "Twilight: The Graphic Novel" be released locally?
A: In March as well, according to Hachette Book Group USA (Phils). But this will be highly dependent on whether the stores put in their orders on time, and whether their forwarders/shippers don't encounter any logistics problems.

Q: When will "Remember Me" be released locally?
A: As we said before, it's showing March 12th, and will be distributed locally by Pioneer Films. No, TCP isn't planning a Block Screening. :P

Q: What about "The Runaways" and "Welcome to the Riley's"?
A: Again, we already posted about this; we haven't got any information on who will be distributing these movies locally, if any. I didn't see these films in the line-ups of 3 big distributors that I personally work with. Don't worry, we haven't stopped asking around about these movies yet. We will let you know here and on Twitter/Plurk as soon as we have more information.

Q: When will "Eclipse" be released locally?
A: Pioneer Films has no final decision on that yet, but expect a date very close to or the same as the US release.

Q: Will "New Moon: The Score" be released locally?
A: We're not sure yet. We'll update this info as soon as we get an answer to the inquiry we already posted to the publishers. Warner Music Phils. says that "New Moon: The Score" is already available locally. Please let us know if you spot them in stores. In addition, we haven't seen the sheet music for the New Moon soundtrack around yet either. If you're looking for the sheet music for the Twilight soundtrack, they're available at Sound Essentials branches around Metro Manila and occasionally, at Fully Booked stores.

Post-Event Report: New Moon Soundtrack Launch Party

Pinoy Twilighters got another chance to combine their love for Twilight and music in this year's The Twilight Saga: New Moon Soundtrack Launch by Warner Music Philippines. The event was held in SM Megamall Activity Center on November 13, 2009 at 6PM and was made possible by Warner Music Philippines, Pioneer Films, Magic 89.9, SM Megamall, National Bookstore, Friendster, Water Plus, Candy Magazine, Yoshinoya, Trigger Happy, and Twilight Coven Philippines.

True to form, just like last year's event, the attendees were treated to food, music, and games in order to celebrate the release of the The Twilight Saga: New Moon movie soundtrack. The participants had free food and drinks from Yoshinoya and Water Plus, plus free issues of Candy Magazine. People also had fun posing for unlimited pictures at the Trigger Happy photobooth.

The event was hosted by Junior Jock Curtis from Magic 89.9, while Twilight Coven Philippines assisted in the facilitation of the games. The games were all geared towards testing the attendees' knowledge of the soundtrack. Participants also got a chance to win advance screening tickets to The Twilight Saga: New Moon, plus New Moon posters, shirts, sampler cds, and Warner Music planners.

The musical acts were definitely the highlight of the event, as bands covered songs featured in the Twilight soundtrack. Gracenote covered Paramore's "I Caught Myself" and "Decode", followed by BlueBoyBitesBack, who covered MuteMath's "Spotlight (Twilight Mix)". Both bands also performed their own music. The event ended with a performance from Urbandub, who also performed in last year's Twilight soundtrack launch event.

The Twilight Coven Philippines administrators would like to thank Warner Music Philippines and the other sponsors for including TCP in their event. Congratulations also to all the winners (especially to those who got advance screening tickets), and thank you to all TCP members and non-members who attended the event.

The Twilight Saga: New Moon Original Motion Picture Soundtrack is available in stores nationwide.

News Round-Up: 06 November 2009

Examiner.com now has the full track list of the score for The Twilight Saga: New Moon from Alexandre Desplat. I guess there's not much guessing here on where most of the tracks will play out based on the titles [we surely had fun hashing the first score over at Danag Ep. 5 - mabelletaka]. Continue to check the site in terms of local availability.

The press pre-screening for The Twilight Saga: New Moon is already over and here's what most of the attendees have tweeted about it (c/o Twilight Lexicon):
“I was very impressed not only by the visual effects and the movie, but by the acting itself. Chris Weitz is bad ass.”

“Just saw New Moon. Better than Twilight and crowd just applauded at end. Leaves on a soap opera sting….”

“I’m not allowed to say anything! But be sure to follow me tomorrow at @celebuzz – Big day for RPattz news!”

“I enjoyed it more than Twilight, lot of frenching! RT @mytwitherapy: @JasonKennedy1 so….how was the new moon press screening?!?!? :-) ”

“@shaunssanctuary just came frm seeing NM.I guess it’s every girl’s dream to have a vampire & werewolf fighting over her!”

“One word: amazing! I was very impressed all around – visuals were stunning. The underwater scene..le sigh. And Summit was fabulous!!”

“ @LarryCarroll: “New Moon” was genuinely awesome. A lot of people are about to be very happy.”
You can also catch the New Moon cast as they embark on their full-swing promotional legs in their various TV appearances. Here's a list of their US schedule from JustJared. Be sure to check the site in terms of local showing schedule.

Fear.net compiled three of the New Moon clips that have been released the past few days. These contain the extended Bella birthday scene, a BellaxJacob scene, and a featurette on the Volturi. They also posted an interview with Melissa Rosenberg talking about her favorite scenes in New Moon along with writing the proposal scene.

If you're done ogling over the pictures over at Harper's Bazaar (I can still hear the squeeing), here's a glimpse of its upcoming article on Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart in that issue from Extra TV and a feature on these two actors from Harper's Bazaar.

MTV asks the New Moon cast various fan questions sent over to them. Check out the following: Q&A with Kellan Lutz and Nikki Reed; Q&A with Kellan Lutz, Jamie Campbell Bower, and Edi Gathegi; and one last Q&A with Kellan Lutz, Jamie Campbell Bower, and Billy Burke.

ReelzChannel has a rundown of the new faces that you will see in the upcoming Eclipse movie.

News Round-Up: October 26, 2009

Episode 19 of the Danag podcast will be up this week, where we cover Sam Bradley's Philippine mall tour, the New Moon soundtrack, and a teeny bit of the movie companion (no spoilers, promise!)

Also, thanks to the peeps who claimed their tickets for the blocked screening last Saturday! Our next claiming date will be this Halloween, October 31. :) Wow, it's less than a month 'til New Moon!

---

And yet, the biggest news recently has been Eclipse-related. Summit has unveiled the title logo for the third movie on their official Twilight twitter account.

Now this logo is the most vampiric-looking of 'em all. Very David Slade. What do you think?

Eclipse is also in the process of wrapping up and heading for post-production. Only a few scenes left to shoot, and then it's the huge promotional rollercoaster for New Moon for the cast, starting with the "Twilight Saga: New Moon" (U.S.) City Cast Tour. Added reasons to go besides the "stargazing": performances by some of the artists on the OST, and special access for the few who acquire VIP cred. (We only wish we could experience this.)

On MTV.com: The Vampire's Assistant actor says that Cirque du Freak's vamps are cooler than Twilight's. (Before you go all ballistic, though, click on the link and read the article first!) Also, Robert Pattinson's Edward Cullen was inspired by James Dean.
" 'Rebel Without a Cause' was a big influence on the first ['Twilight' film] — it influenced the hairdo and stuff," Pattinson told USA Today. "In lots of ways, it has a very similar character arc: An everyday girl brings this relatively strange individual out of his slump."

Pattinson said he doesn't understand his appeal to young women, and even as his star continues to shine brighter and brighter each day, he's still not used to all the attention. "I'm not entirely sure what it is," he said. "I'll probably realize afterward how I could have controlled it a little bit more. But I am still like a deer in headlights."
Ah, funny how he described himself. That's exactly how I thought he looked like on the cover of USA Weekend.

tMF discusses Chris Weitz and what he can bring to the Twilight franchise. And if New Moon turns out well, would you consider him to direct Breaking Dawn?

More wolf pack meaty-goodness for you: Vanity Fair has an interview with Chaske Spencer. And if you missed it (like we did), they also have interviews with Alex Meraz and Kiowa Gordon.

Will the New Moon soundtrack be as successful as the Twilight one? Hitfix.com predicts it will be number one by this week on the Billboard charts, but will soon be eclipsed (no pun intended) by MJ.

In the meantime, if you were wondering why and how songs and artists were chosen for the soundtrack, read New Moon Rising: The Billboard Cover Story on Billboard.com. It's a good read and very enlightening (and for those asking, explains why Rob doesn't have a song in it.) Some excerpts:
"Keeping it as a combination of obviously great artists -- but making it interesting for people to discover -- was a very carefully considered view," Katz says.
This love triangle forms the plot of "New Moon," and accordingly the soundtrack is moody and wistful, but with an undercurrent of strum und drang machismo. Each song is exclusive to the soundtrack, as-yet-unreleased, and most were written specifically for the movie, remixed or given new lyrics to fit the film's themes. "I was very inspired by the John Hughes movies of the '80s, which made me listen to indie rock bands that probably weren't meant for 13-year-olds: Yello, the Psychedelic Furs, New Order," says music supervisor Alexandra Patsavas, who also produced the album, as she did for the soundtrack to "Twilight." "Hopefully we can create a similar moment in time for 2009 teenagers."
New Moon Spoiler Alerts! EXTRA has a sneak peek of a cute parking lot moment for Edward and Bella. Thanks to the fans who've uploaded it up on Youtube! :)

A recent TV spot of the movie is up on ETOnline. [Is it me or are their bylines getting more cliche than Twilight's? -minamic]

We end this round-up with a link to the People's Choice Awards. The site is just asking for nominations, and Twilight can be up for five categories, so go and show our fandom some love!

News Round-Up: 19 October 2009

There are rumours circulating around the online community that the local release date of New Moon was moved to a date earlier than the 20th. We've yet to get confirmation from our contacts in Pioneer Films, nor have we been informed by Ayala Cinemas (since it will affect our Block Screening schedule). We'll let you know ASAP when things change; consider it a rumour for now.

People Magazine will release a special New Moon edition, check out the preview they have posted. We'll let you know if this will be available locally [because that new shot of Eclipse is giving me good goosebumps - mabelletaka].

(c/o Twilight Lexicon)

NewMoonMovie.org shares a preview of the New Moon scene that ET Online will debut in the US on Monday (so that would be Tuesday or Wednesday 7PM and 11PM Philippine time, in ETC 2nd Avenue). This will feature a scene between Bella and the wolfpack (and a very scary Alex Meraz in particular).

News Round-Up: October 1, 2009

Sidenotes before I start this round-up:
As you all know, we are in the middle of a at the moment. Although the blog has been silent as of late, we've been trying to generate some noise through our mini-outlet on Twitter. The retweets and show of support has been overwhelming, and we'd like to thank our fellow Twilighters out there who've helped spread the word and/or just basically helped out, however small. If we could give you a hug from Edward or Jacob, we would! (However, we don't own them... nevertheless, it's the thought that counts, right?)

For our fellow local peeps, let's hope and pray the oncoming storm won't directly hit us. But just in case, stock up on necessities, as well as candles, matches/lighters, flashlights and batteries. No harm in being prepared. :)

Now on to the news...
---
Anya Marina's song on the New Moon soundtrack, Satellite Heart, can now be previewed on her MySpace page. The ChopShopRecords blog has a note from the artist on how she felt being told about her soundtrack inclusion. This is also up on the Twilight Lexicon.

AceShowbiz has info on four bonus songs that will be included in the New Moon OST.
The bonus tracks are "Solar Midnite" by , "All I Believe In" by The Magic Numbers and Amadou & Mariam, "Die Fledermaus - Duettino: Ach, ich darf nicht hin zu dir" by APM Orchestra, and "Wandrers Nachtlied II, Op. 96, No. 3, D.768" by Ulf Bastlein. In addition to the four songs, iTunes version soundtrack will also include 's music video for "Meet Me On The Equinox".

Besides, by pre-ordering the soundtrack through iTunes now, fans will get an immediate download of Anya Marina's "Satellite Heart". The song, which is listed in between ' "A White Demon Love Song" and 's "I Belong To You ('New Moon' Remix)" in the album, had been debuted on Monday, September 28, through her MySpace.

Individual New Moon character posters have been officially released online. They include Bella, Victoria, Laurent, Alice, Jasper, Carlisle, Esme, Emmett, Rosalie, and the Wolf Pack's Sam, Jared and Paul. The promo-stills can be viewed on several sites, including NewMoonMovie.org and TwiFans.

TwiFans also has recent full-body promos of Edward and Jacob. These are actually life-size standees that can be bought from Nordstrom's online shop, along with the rest of the brand's Twilight-inspired fashion collection.

Speaking of fashion, check out Hot Topic's new New Moon merchandise. Items of note: replicas of Bella's green birthday dress and her green corduroy jacket (I thought Bella's fashion color was blue?), antique-styled makeup boxes, separate Team Edward and Team Jacob themed jewelry, Victoria's necklace and the Volturi crest pendant! Maybe, RPattz-Edward on a sweatshirt, anyone?

BeautybloggingJunkie.com interviewed Robin Matthews, Kristen Stewart's make-up artist on New Moon. And if you're curious about Robert Pattinson's (Edward Cullen) bronze highlights? The Huffington Post has an article on how to achieve the effect, besides visiting the original stylist, of course.

Vanity Fair has a poll asking which New Moon couple is your favorite. (Naturally, Bella and Edward are leading.)

MTV reveals a special Forks-only cover for Stephenie Meyer's bio-comic.

Robert Pattinson has been the subject of quite a few articles lately. He's the cover of Another Man magazine, and is featured on GQ Style, Cinemania and Sci Fi Magazine. More on the latter on Pattinson Online. MTV also discusses RPattz and other overnight sex symbols.

News Round-Up: September 23, 2009

Atlantic Records has officially announced the release of the New Moon soundtrack on their site.

Curious about some of the artists in the OST? Here's two features: St. Vincent talked to MTV about their inclusion in the album. Meanwhile, Hurricane Bells explains to EW how they got a song in.

On Eclipse, EOnline now has Melissa Rosenberg commenting on the darker turn the movie's going with director David Slade.
"David has a darker sensibility, so it clicks," Rosenberg said. "The story has a slightly darker tone. I mean, it goes into a full-out battle, so it is darker in the nature of what it is. David was the perfect director for it."
I don't mind as long as the leg-hitch scene and the proposal--"I promise to love you forever, every single day of forever"--is there. Hopefully, that line won't end up like the lion-lamb line that still makes our skin crawl whenever we watch it. (We already know the tent scene is there, so no worries about that.)

FANDOM NEWS
Thanks to Amala_Thea for the heads-up, we now know that New Moon will have a preview at the Rome International Film Festival, same as Twilight last year. The news bit is here but it's in Italian. :P

Nordstrom's Twilight tees are being modelled by the interns over on MTV. Here they are wearing two of the wolf pack shirts (guest starring Cam Gigandet! He doesn't wear them, though. Haha.) & two with the Cullen and Volturi crests.

MTV also has a 5-page peek at the Female Force comic bio featuring Stephenie Meyer.

Finally, I couldn't resist posting this pic shared by someone from Twitter, through RobPattzNews: a limited edition Pringles flavor. Now I wonder what VAMPIRE tastes like!
