ECLIPSE NEWS... the Good...

A clip from the movie was released recently. It shows the Volturi --- Jane, Alec, Demetri, and Felix --- observing the newborns wreaking havoc in Seattle. You can find it and download an iPod version here on Apple trailers.

BoxOfficeMojo reports that the Motion Picture Association of America's Classification and Ratings Administration have rated Eclipse as PG-13. (Hm, last year, our local classification of New Moon was GP.)

On the Red Carpet has an interview with Charlie Bewley, who plays Demetri in Eclipse. He says that the movie will be action-packed, and shares an anecdote about the shoot.

"We were shooting in this forest in Vancouver and the green room was this gun club and it was so small and all the directors chairs, with the names on the back of them, were lined up like sardines," he said. "So we all went in there, all soaking wet like drowned rats. It was so funny just to see the biggest young Hollywood (stars) like drowned rats, side by side."

The band Metric's lead singer, Emily Haines, reveals her thoughts on having a song on the Eclipse OST in their Myspace blog. She also has an interview with MTV regarding their involvement on Eclipse, and their song, which was in collaboration with famed composer, Howard Shore.

"[He] calls me and says, 'I want to write with you ... I want you to write with me, for the song at the end of the movie, the penultimate moment, where the whole score culminates in this incredible scene.' And I was like, 'OK.' "

..."I had to ... really try to embody the voice of Bella, which I've never done. I've always been interested in that — writing for film — and it was really cool to feel the emotions of someone else, and then try to express it in a way that's consistent with Stephenie [Meyer]'s books," she said. "It was so interesting for me. And [Shore] had also written the [chord] progressions, and we had to work within his melodic ideas, but still make it us. ... He really wanted it to be Metric. So it's, like, Metric and Howard Shore, writing this moment. And when you see the movie, you'll hear that the melodies from the song we wrote are part of the score. ... I can't believe my luck, and it was really cool to work with him."

To round-up the recent good news, it's time for the MTV Movie Awards once again! Due to the zealousness of our fellow Twilighters, our trio have snagged noms for Best Female and Best Male Performances as well as the Global Superstar award. Their costar, Anna Kendrick, is nominated for Best Breakout Star, while New Moon is also in the running for Best Movie.

Of course, what I, and some crazy people like me out there, deem most interesting in this event is the category, Best Kiss, where all three of them are up against each other! Like the last time, I am lobbying for the Robsten pairing. Mabs and CdL will be voting for Kristen-Dakota (via The Runaways). :D Please vote to support!

Now for the bad news...

As you probably know by now, there've been some salary disputes going on and, due to this, we might see Ashley Greene and Kellan Lutz getting the boot. They are two of the more loved Cullen actors, at least, they are in our part of the world, so we'd be really sad and disappointed if we don't see them in the last installment. Let's hope they iron things out before then.

News Round-Up: October 23, 2009

Because my Blogger finally works, I'm going to write the round-up for today!
--
First off, one of our Twitter followers asked us to verify New Moon's local release date. So, for those of you who don't follow us on twitter: As of October 22, nothing has changed. The movie will still come out on November 20, according to Pioneer Films, in all cinemas. We aren't sure if we can divulge advanced screenings yet, but they're supposedly having them the day before, the 19th, and not on the 18th.

If you have a twitter account, follow us for more up-to-date news! :) Or if you don't have one, you can check out our Twitter feed on the blog's right side. We tend to post faster there. (Thank you Tweetdeck! LOL.)

On to the news!

The Volturi have descended on La Citta Eterna! Charlie Bewley, Cameron Bright, Jamie Campbell-Bower and screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg were at the Rome International Film Festival to represent New Moon. They showed a behind-the-scenes featurette and an extended version of the E/B breakup (which should be floating on the internet somewhere... Summit has been cracking down on the vids up on youtube but you know how persistent we Twilight fans are.)

For more info on the scenes, and photos, go here.

Something that's legally up and viewable (but still entirely dangerous for one's EQ): A full clip of the Volterra fight scene between Edward and Felix is on Yahoo! Movies UK. If your EQ is already shot, much like mine is, watch it to appreciate the special effects for vamp speed!

Also, if you can't access the video of the trailer's new version--the one with Jacob and Edward having a little altercation--on Access Hollywood, follow this link to Fandango where it's up on HD.

Want that New Moon look? InStyle has a behind-the-scenes feature on the hows, whys and where-to-buys of the key objects in the movie.

Here's a video interview of Charlie Bewley (especially for Jacke, who we love right now. LOL.)

A funny bit from the New Moon birthday scene: Can Jackson now sing, "I kissed RPattz and I liked it"? Rachelle Lefevre relates at the UK TwiCon that Jackson kissed Rob on the cheek while filming. Read the short fan retelling here.

We end the round-up with something for the Team Jacobs out there. In an interview with MTV, Jackson Rathbone says that Taylor is worth more than just his abs.
"Taylor Lautner really stands out in this film, and I think people are going to be really blown away by his performance," Rathbone said. "You have these great moments that Jacob just completely is winning over Bella. And it's just beautiful to see it. It's all in their eyes."

NEW MOON NEWS
Starting the round-up today with a short interview with a TCP-admin favorite. Edi Gathegi talks to VH1 about being on his last Twilight series film, getting to wear SHOES for once, what cardboard animal replaced the fuzzy wolves he had to face, and his one "sparkling" regret.
Though that scene will be Gathegi's last as vampire Laurent, he said he can't be too upset about not returning to the saga. "Honestly, perspective. I'm happy I'm in 'Twilight.' I'm happy I made it to 'New Moon.' Things could be worse."
Thank you, Edi, for portraying Laurent and for having fun with the role, and just for basically being one of the happier cast! :)

People.com has the Volturi up on its site, where Chris Weitz explains his choice of actors to portray the royal trio:
Although Aro and his brothers Marcus (Christopher Heyerdahl) and Caius (Jamie Campbell Bower) have been "alive" for thousands of years, Weitz says he "deliberately" gave them a younger look in the film – for which he credits author Meyer.

"Stephenie was very keen to steer away from a kind of wizard-y look for the vampires," says Weitz. "They do look quite young, but they convey a formality and self-possession, which comes from age."
So I guess this sheds light on the mystery that is JCB's casting?

MTV has a feature on the wolf pack! Kiowa Gordon, Chaske Spencer and hottie Alex Meraz talked about preparing for their roles, the effect of reading blogs, and how things got out-of-hand on the New Moon set.
"I decided, all right, the Wolf Pack stay up all night looking for who's killing people on the res, so we don't sleep very much. So I thought it would be a great idea if I stayed up for 10 days straight." What should have been a simple scene — a confrontation between Bella (Stewart) and the Wolf Pack — became, in Meraz's mind, his "Brando moment." Wanting to try something different, the actor played the scene overly aggressive: screaming, grabbing Stewart by the throat, hurtling his line at her.

"[Director] Chris Weitz comes off-set like, 'Yeah, I like the energy Alex, but just take it down a little,' " Spencer chimed in: "Meanwhile the producers are freaking out back there."

" 'Cause nobody touches Kristen Stewart," joked Meraz.
Kind of intriguing how most of the sites that link to this article (and the title on the page itself) focus on that part. Anyway, more on the wolf pack here.

Also on MTV, Death Cab for Cutie's single on the New Moon OST, "Meet Me on the Equinox", will premiere on MTV.com, the same time as the VMAs.

ECLIPSE NEWS

Eclipse production is really on the move at the moment up in Vancouver, and updates are actually coming in via twitter-friendly director, David Slade.
DAVID_A_SLADE: Shot with Rob and Kristen today, both gave great performances. Lots of frustrating noisy planes overhead but beautiful scene regardless.

DAVID_A_SLADE: http://twitpic.com/fsbf1 - Mr Taylor Lautner. A photo I took during early camera lighting tests. Not a whisker in sight.

DAVID_A_SLADE: Rehearsals with Kristen, Billy Burke and Rob yesterday. Third week of shooting just hours away. Preparation, preparation preparation.

DAVID_A_SLADE: http://twitpic.com/fxb97 - Taylor Lautner Pic from set, yes that is him mid backflip. He does it from standing still.
A peek at Rob on-set as Edward, Kristen on-set as Bella, and the Graduation scene.

VH1 has a feature on the new guys in Eclipse, Jack Huston, Booboo Stewart and Xavier Samuel.

And speaking of new people, remember the character Vera, Rosalie's human best friend with the curly-haired baby boy that Emmett reminded her of? She's apparently going to be played by a contest winner named Sabrina Frank. Read more here.

Eclipsemovie.org also has a bit of speculation on who would be playing the part of Tanya Denali. See the pic here and tell us what you think? Is she a Tanya or isn't she a Tanya? Come to think of it, is Tanya even in Eclipse?

Edit: This just in: The Twilight Lexicon confirms it. There's no Tanya in Eclipse. Bad, rumor mill.

FANDOM NEWS
Twilight Beauty has officially opened its doors... web-wise, at least. The splash page and products look cool and we now have a clearer view of the Volturi crest. The question is, will it sell? (Maybe we should have a local magazine sample the products...)

Jackson Rathbone and the 100 Monkeys might be touring the U.S. after Eclipse wraps according to this news bit.

MTV's Hollywood Crush asks: Is Twilight the ONE movie you would take to the end of the world? Because poll results have yielded a resounding YES. Like the writer, though, we're not so sure that should be the case. (I personally would choose Jim Henson's Storyteller--it's cheating, I know--or Labyrinth. Puppetry is becoming a lost art, and, well, I grew up with the muppets. -minamic) But there are billions of people and lots of movies, so one can bring Twilight and the other billion will take care of the rest. Would you bring Twilight and if not, what movie would you choose to bring, to the end of the world? It's a fun question, so let us know! :)

News Round-Up: August 28, 2009

Deja vu? The Volturi have surfaced... again!

Summit went the viral route in promoting the elusive forefront members of the Volturi, so we now have full-body shots of them up on different sites:

All dark, glowering and mysterious. We also see a glimpse of the Volturi crest hanging off the necks of Jane, Aro, and Marcus. (Alec's and Caius' must be hidden inside their coats.) Hm, I know some of us were already spoiled from this "big reveal" *cough*leak*cough* but still, what do you think now that we've officially seen Chris Weitz's interpretation of vampire royalty? (I personally love Dakota Fanning's Jane. -minamic)

In other news, we finally have one sure song that's on the New Moon soundtrack! MTV will premiere Death Cab for Cutie's single, "Meet Me on the Equinox", on September 13, the same day as the VMAs. (Not sure if that means they'll be showing it on the VMAs.)

The Independent has an interview with Kristen Stewart.

And a bit of something old but new, a video interview posted on NewMoonMovie.org on why Stephenie thinks Breaking Dawn should be made into two movies.

Lastly, we know you love Peter Facinelli, a.k.a., Daddy Carlisle Cullen. So go vote for him as Mr. Twitter! Only 4 days left! :D

The Volturi have surfaced!

Online, that is. Seems like the Volturi couldn't keep themselves hidden for long. Hot off the Hollywood gossip sites this morning is a scoop on what looks to be a very authentic, very long-awaited first view of that very elusive royal vampire clan.

The "leaked scoop" includes headshots of the majestic trio, Aro, Marcus and Caius, and vamp twins Jane and Alec, over the Volturi crest. Still kind of on-the-fence about JCB's Caius (although we know one person who fully supports him!) I love Dakota Fanning! She is really rocking her role!

Unfortunately, due to the current status of the leaked pics, they cannot be put up on the site at the moment. (Or the Volturi will have our heads. Yikes.)

But if you have chanced upon the screenie, what do you think? Was Michael Sheen how you expected as Aro? How about young Jamie Campbell-Bower pulling off a supposedly-thousand-year-old Caius? Does it look like Chris Weitz went for the onion-skinned creepiness or the regality of true monarchs? And where are sexy hunks Felix and Demetri? Share your thoughts on the comments!
